gayest name ever? yes. my mom's boyfriend 'invited' me to join this site that appears to be another version of friendster or myspace. they claim to have over 2 million registered people. is anyone here a member? does it suck as much as i suspect it does?

i always thought this was Hi5:

haha, my brother was invited to this and almost declined but then realized it was full of girls. I still get the sense that it's pretty crappy.

It makes me think of

For some reason, Hi5 rules the roost of this kind fo stuff in Portugal - much more popular than myspace, friendster, etc. It seems like this is the case in a few other countries as well - I've noticed plenty of ppl from Chile and Trinidad.

yeah, it was a belgian friend who invited me. so that makes sense.

consumating.com just got bought by cnet for a couple million bucks. not sure why. i just saw eli on it. maybe thats why. though i work for this other new social networking site and i've been having meetings all month with banker-types and media/internet conglomerates about buying us too. which would be rad since i own a (small) percentage of the company. we only have like 30,000 members, mostly emo'ish kids, but we got a prettty killer ad-sales system, which is why i think google and viacom are interested. i need to cut down on 5am-party-nights so i don't show up to meetings hungover and with bloody noses anymore. im going to try to get my boss to buy me a dior suit to wear at meetings. wish me luck.

I'm on MySpace, Friendster, Hi5, Orkut, makeoutclub, LiveJournal, and I've turned a few others down because they wanted too much personal info. What's your social networking site, Phil-two?

naus (Robert T), Thursday, 19 January 2006 00:12 (twenty years ago)

motherfuckin makeoutclub. wtf?

I wonder what happens when the time comes that all these data-mining personal services suddenly turn all Handmaids Tale on us.

i'm on friendster, myspace, orkut and tribe. i've yet to "meet" anyone through them. they seem to be merely a showcase of drunken photos with friends.

What's your social networking site, Phil-two?

oh, actually i probably shouldn't say yet since I don't want anyone from here to google it and see this thread. but even though there's like no one on it yet, today someone just offered us a ridiculous, i mean ridiculous amount of money... but my fucking idiot boss i think is going to turn it down. im going to cry. but maybe its ok. its kinda insane. webjay.org just got by yahoo for a couple million and i think youtube just got bought too. which i had never even heard of before that fucking chronic-les of narnia thing went around.

consumating's hook i think was its use of tagging in the online personals realm. youtube hasn't been bought yet ...
