"The only reason you're conscious is because I don't want to carry you."

joygoat (joygoat), Monday, 16 January 2006 02:35 (twenty years ago)

Logan is the best hated character on television. What a stupid little man.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Monday, 16 January 2006 03:16 (twenty years ago)

Edgar is still dumb as a rock.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 16 January 2006 03:22 (twenty years ago)

tv news reporter is JOHN BEARD, L.A. Fox 11 anchor.

and i am in love with Reiko Aylesworth. poor Michelle : (

gear (gear), Monday, 16 January 2006 04:21 (twenty years ago)

Edgar's not dumb; he's just horny.

Annoying kid w/ the Spin City mom needs to learn how to use a cellphone so he doesn't get held hostage by terrorists.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 16 January 2006 04:50 (twenty years ago)

What happened to Kim, BTW? She fall into a vat of pudding? Get killed by a papercut? Shoot out her eye w/ a BB gun?

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 16 January 2006 04:55 (twenty years ago)

urgent, what happened in the last segment, my DVR got cut off, help

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 16 January 2006 06:33 (twenty years ago)

terrorists entered the airport and took hostages, including the kid (who saw them entering and ran in to warn Jack)

Russian terrorist head called up some dude, who told him that he took care of the problem with the First Lady, he had altered the tapes. it was revealed to be CUMMINGS (that boring dude who advises Logan)

gear (gear), Monday, 16 January 2006 06:37 (twenty years ago)

thanks! I've been checking forums, what happened with the cyanide?

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 16 January 2006 06:45 (twenty years ago)

Cevensky took it as Jack was about to question him!

gear (gear), Monday, 16 January 2006 06:47 (twenty years ago)

okay cool thanks OY VEY

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 16 January 2006 06:53 (twenty years ago)

Motherfuckers killed off Michelle! It's like they think the public wants to watch 24 hours of wormy/ugly/goofy/vaguely Nixonesque men instead of the luminescent beauty of Reiko Aylesworth! And Dennis Haysbert! They seriously reduced the prettiness quotient of this show in one five-minute period.

I remain hopeful that, given the fates of Presidents Palmer and Keeler, Logan will be dead by the end of the day. Such a sniveling jackass.

reddening (reddening), Monday, 16 January 2006 07:57 (twenty years ago)

Designing Woman for President! Chloe for Veep! Kim Raver doing some stuff, too!

Yeah, bumping off two of my 24 faves was a bummer, but A) it allows Dennis Haysbert more time to do those Allstate commercials, B) no more Michelle / Tony "I wuv you because you complete me / No, I wuv you because you are my rock" nonsense, and C) TONY ALMEIDA WILL GET HIS REVENGE HELL YEAH (once he, um, heals up some).

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 16 January 2006 11:20 (twenty years ago)

I really liked Reiko's hair for the minute she was on. And I'm betting on Elisha Cuthbert coming back sooner or later.

OMG Dennis Haysbert could totally work in his death into the Allstate commercials. "You don't want this to happen to you"

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 16 January 2006 16:59 (twenty years ago)

It took a few hours to recover from BEING SHOT IN THE THROAT, so I give Tony about two hours this time.

I hope Buchanan is not gonna torture Chloe... enough with the non-Jack torture already.

I call Wayne taking out Walt Cummings.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Monday, 16 January 2006 17:29 (twenty years ago)

Chase kills Logan's wife and everyone suspects Logan, who has mysteriously vanished. "I'm telling you, the one-armed man did it!"

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 16 January 2006 17:58 (twenty years ago)

So, I think I'm going to watch this season after skipping the first four. How eye-rolling are the deus ex machinas? Is Palmer's brother likely to go to the morgue around hour 17, pull the ex-prez out of storage, say "wake up bro, it's time" and help him strap on some Rambo-sized guns?

truck-patch pixel farmer (my crop froze in the field) (Rock Hardy), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:12 (twenty years ago)

And I'm betting on Elisha Cuthbert coming back sooner or later.

Maybe my "wit" was a little too obtuse.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

I'm a bit conflicted about Sexy!Chloe. "I don't want people thinking I'm a slut!"

So many hateable douchebags already! Chloe's boyslave, Whiney McWhinington ("WHY WON'T YOU TALK TO ME, FRANK?? I'M SCARED." (Jack: "I'M THE GODDAMN JACK BAUER.")), Walt Comings, and so on.

However, unintentional funniness: Nixon to First Lady: "Martha Martha Martha"! Speaking of whom, I hear that she gets better tonight.

c(''c) (Leee), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

Too obtuse, yes.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 16 January 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

WHY WONT MY TORRENT FINISH LOADING GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 16 January 2006 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Thanks.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Monday, 16 January 2006 23:29 (twenty years ago)

Is it an unspoken rule that the mostly inconsequential Aaron Pierce must appear in every season?

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 01:36 (twenty years ago)

I just watched this via bittorrent.

The world is no longer in good hands. And Jack Bauer was on the grassy knoll.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 03:57 (twenty years ago)

Also: Chloe's password is 'JJ72'. How indie.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 04:26 (twenty years ago)

What - nothing about Samwise being the bureaucratic bitchtit? I was so disappointed he was the one that picked up on the "Flank 2" thing.

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 05:50 (twenty years ago)

God, Evelyn is hot.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 23:10 (twenty years ago)

I picked up on "Flank 2" the first time Jack said it, before he even repeated it.

Because it's television, and there always has to be a reason why characters say everything.

Then again at the beginning of episode four the cameras keep focusing on some woman and her kid in the middle of the hostages and I thought it would turn out to be the Russian president's daughter and his grandson, or something. Fuck knows why they showed her three times.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 04:32 (twenty years ago)

This is pretty lame. The only good things so far are the First Lady and the twist that the Division sneak turned out to be right. Otherwise it's just like some kind of compendium of the previous four seasons' stock plot devices. And who told the scriptwriters about data mining? It's shaping up to be this season's torture.

Motherfuckers killed off Michelle! It's like they think the public wants to watch 24 hours of wormy/ugly/goofy/vaguely Nixonesque men instead of the luminescent beauty of Reiko Aylesworth!

Actually this was another good bit. It was like them saying: "ABC have got a younger, prettier version in Evangeline Lilly. Ditch Michelle."

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 21 January 2006 00:55 (twenty years ago)

ihttp://zindy.zone.dk/images/drawings/stars/evangeline_lilly_3_x.jpg

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 21 January 2006 01:14 (twenty years ago)

i haven't seen the new season yet, but the pictures i've seen of evangeline lilly make her seem a little more ho-ey than reiko aylesworth, so i don't know if i could consider it a replacement.

my one great hope for this season is that jack loses his "center of goodness" status, tipping the perception of his rule-breaking rages from grudging admiration to shock at his dangerous lunacy.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 21 January 2006 01:17 (twenty years ago)

Also, I realise we don't know the full story of what's going on yet, but the baddy HQ boss with the headset genuinely seemed to be hoping that the hostage-taking was going to stop this US-Russian accord being signed. What kind of a stupid plan was that? Say they had managed to stop it. What was supposed to prevent them just signing it next week instead?

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 21 January 2006 01:33 (twenty years ago)

I don't think I can stomach "vigilante Jack" for 24 episodes. The show's creators just slobber all over his knob. The first time you see him he's under a construction hat, and when he squints up towards the camera to reveal his face it's accompanied by the faint, clear sound of a faraway bugle. DOES ANY OTHER THAN WHITE MEN BE ALLOWED THE FARAWAY BUGLE??

Soi Disantra is at it again :D

Yawn (Wintermute), Monday, 23 January 2006 15:05 (twenty years ago)

I've only seen the first episode. But already it's just made me totally annoyed. Jack calls his latest chick from a helicopter, having abducted her son. He basically tells her this and nothing more and she's totlaly freaked out. Jack goes "remember when you said you trusted me this morning? Well trust me now!"

The problem was, she didn't say she trusted Jack. She said shhe trusted her instincts. And her instincts during that phone call from the helicopter was "Jack is a potential lunatic and a threat to my son" !!

SOMEBODY PLEASE JUST CALL THE POLICE ON JACK, MAYBE THIS SEASON CAN BE CALLED "8" or SOMETHING.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 03:32 (twenty years ago)

Whoever that actor is, I hate that mouth-open slack-jawed look.

truck-patch pixel farmer (my crop froze in the field) (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 03:36 (twenty years ago)

Alright, that last episode was pretty good.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 04:42 (twenty years ago)

haha it's really ridiculous now but jack's turned into such a 'outta control/but he's the best we got' it's fantastic - i was totally 'let jack interrogate him!' and when he was 'i'm not ctu anymore - i'll go get him myself' i was totally 'yeah! go kick karl rove's ass!'.

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 04:47 (twenty years ago)

It's too bad the guy that looks most like Rove isn't the Rove in question.

Chloe is SO HARD! I love it.

Also, kudos for the death-by-scissors.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Holy shit Leeee your 24 FANTASY ANALYSIS is awesome!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 25 January 2006 16:51 (twenty years ago)

I love how the guys in the shadowy cabal are THINKING OF THE CHILDREN.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 26 April 2006 20:54 (twenty years ago)

Trace, it was more of a complaint addressed to Sean Callery, not a statement of fact.

I have to say this season has been entertaining but so far it seems like this is the first year where you really don't need to watch from the beginning to comprehend it all. Every couple episodes the plots seems to shift/resolve to a new area, as compared to previous seasons, where it might happen only twice (e.g. season 2's switch from nuclear bomb hunt to debating over u.s. war retaliation.) Less big picture, more indivual episodes. But there were signs of that last season too.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 26 April 2006 21:18 (twenty years ago)

*individual

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 26 April 2006 21:19 (twenty years ago)

The new head shadowy cabal honcho was a baddie in ROBOCOP. It's all starting to come together. Also, I thought at first he was Toby Young, but I don't think that's relevant.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 27 April 2006 09:04 (twenty years ago)

Season 5 hasn't come out here yet in Australia, but I have heard so much and i'm so excited and so sad :'[ I heard that Tony and Michella die which is WRONG SO WRONG! :[ they have been my fave since FOREVER! well tony was and when Michella came season 2 XD

Delinda, Saturday, 29 April 2006 11:40 (twenty years ago)

This is all very exciting but why doesn't Jack just play the recording down the phone to Chloe or CTU?

Alba (Alba), Friday, 5 May 2006 09:17 (twenty years ago)

last two episodes were awesome! although I find it hard to believe chloe didn't copy the recording to a hard drive.

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:12 (twenty years ago)

Miles is such a wet fart.

That I didn't see the "call from the governor" reprieve for Logan coming from that mile-long stretch of freeway is either a testament to the Logan actor's performance (& my total immersion in it) (sic?)or a testament to my own obliviousness.

But, yeah, always back up your data, CHLOE! *eye roll*

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:17 (twenty years ago)

chloe repeatedly stun-gunning the guy in the hotel bar was a highpoint as well

i was feeling a curtis double-cross for a second there

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:20 (twenty years ago)

and is it just me or is chloe looking and sounding more and more like an anime character?

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:21 (twenty years ago)

JACK LOOK OUT! = INUYASHA!

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 9 May 2006 16:22 (twenty years ago)

Did anybody notice how Chloe suddenly turned kinda dumb in last week's episode? I think that's the tell-tale sign that the writers are finally admitting their hots for her.

This week's was up there with the best of any of the previous seasons. I mean, any episode where Jack takes the fucking controls of a plane away from a trained pilot is a cracker. "DESCEND NOW!!" cut to co-pilot shitting his pants. There's a moment in every season when the show, perpetually teetering on the brink of parody just falls off it whole-hog and that was it.

This week was the first time I ever notice just how CHASTE Jack is. Can anyone even imagine him kissing someone??

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:30 (twenty years ago)

"WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR FOREPLAY"

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:36 (twenty years ago)

Dude, she lost a lot of blood!

Also, that knee was really hot.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

She is pretty zonked out, it almost wouldn't be fair to give her "The Full Jack" in that condition.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:52 (twenty years ago)

SHE GOT THE FULL JACK*

* The Full Jack = donkey punch & hot lunch, followed by a Presidential pardon

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 12 May 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

I mean, the information that her dad survived a self-immolating drive off a cliff elicits a brief smile and that's about it. Can you imagine the psychic damage a kiss from Jack's puckered lips would bring?

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 12 May 2006 19:02 (twenty years ago)

Dude, she lost a LOT of blood!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 12 May 2006 19:03 (twenty years ago)

Jack is so chaste because Audrey Raines is like she-Jack, it would be like some weird kind of incest.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 19 May 2006 03:53 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, this week's episode was a weird letdown from the magisterial greatness of the previous one. It all got messy and physical - Aaron, the erased tape.. Jack getting overruled by Buchanan and Hayes was pretty unprecedented. It was fascinating watching Keifer's face in that scene, it was like he didn't know how to act. Every scene he'd been in before was just about threatening people or whatever and in that scene he had to fight for what he wanted even though he - Sutherland - knew that the script wasn't going to give it to him, and it wasn't because of someone else's fuck-up it was because his character was just wrong about things. That's acting. He did OK at it, but not great.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 20 May 2006 04:47 (twenty years ago)

Mary Lynn Rajskub is on Regis & Kelly this Monday.

The second half of this season has been soooo much better than the first.

I also loved Curtis trying to be elated when telling Audrey her father was still alive. It's so atypical (and a bit uncomfortable?) to seem him breaking into an emotion/personality.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Saturday, 20 May 2006 05:38 (twenty years ago)

manchurian candidate jack would be kinda awesome.

I was thinking the chinese would have Kim when he took that phone call at the end, I can't believe we were spared her for the whole season.

Chloe's ex coming in was really bizarre and random, I liked the rest though.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 14:18 (twenty years ago)

THIS. FUCKING. SHOW.

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 22:41 (twenty years ago)

Another happy customer!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 01:12 (twenty years ago)

I like the vision of a de-brained Jack, chip implanted in neck, doing a "bad Superman" routine all over CTU.

The penultimate hour was crackerjack, you couldn't believe just 20 minutes had gone by when the first commercial break cut in. Last hour something of a let-down. Not sure why. The "reveal" of Martha and Jack's plan at the end was delicious though and I think was the first time we have ever had some of Jack's super-clever handiwork hidden from us until a dramatically explosive moment - it's like the writers finally realized they can play around with when the audience gets information.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 25 May 2006 16:24 (twenty years ago)

nah actually they showed the pen switch.

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:20 (twenty years ago)

when??

gear (gear), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:29 (twenty years ago)

Ah it must have been when he was taking stuff out of the Prez's pockets?? Knowing what kind of pen the President uses - that's why he's Jack and we're not.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:34 (twenty years ago)

But still - we weren't told about how Jack and Martha were in cahoots about it. Her tarmac meltdown seemed real.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:41 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I missed it too, my husband caught it though. I didn't even think about Jack having to know what kind of pen Logan normally has!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

I can't wait for next season when Jack saves the day only to be kidnapped by the German dude.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Thursday, 25 May 2006 17:47 (twenty years ago)

I just love that Martha's use of sex tactics to delay the Preznit lasted all of 2-3 minutes. Figures he sucks in bed, tho.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

hahaha i totally forgot to mention that, is it even 2 or 3 minutes long or is it even less?? by the time we've seen them dressing again you have to figure at least 30 seconds has passed

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:48 (twenty years ago)

I'm being kind in saying it was 2-3 minutes. God Bless Martha.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 25 May 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

The last timestamp we see in Ep. 23 says "54:46". The time elapsed between then and the moment the camera finally leaves them to their own devices is an even 4:44, putting them behind closed doors at the 59:30 mark. Given the fact that in the next show we see President Logan putting on his cufflinks at what we can assume is the top of the hour, since it's the first "live" scene we see and directly follows Keifer's subway-conductor-esque "the following takes place between..." we can take, oh, 20 seconds off for getting off the bed and into his presidential shirtsleeves. Keeping in mind that no time has been taken off for foreplay or anything - we're assuming that the very moment the camera's not on them they're suddenly humping like hyenas - Logan turns out to be a 10-second lover.

Rather poor show by Martha, then, too, to be honest.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 25 May 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

I think this season has a little bit of an edge over Season 5, although it took nearly 9 or 10 episodes to really get going.

However the show now *really* needs some new, strong characters next year after killing off three of their best ones this year. The only one who seemed to raise his game this year was Buchanan. I'm perpetually meh on Audrey and Curtis was a bit of a snore this year.
