A friend of mine told me that in the 1980s in the UK there was a wildly popular children's book that featured a talking penis. This can't be true, can it?

it could be true, yes.

i've never heard of it, mind.

x-post: fat willy's was a surf shack, wasn't it? :)

but aye, there was a cartoon book with a bloke who had a talking knob. i've got a mug at home with a picture of it. it certainly wasn't a kids' thing.

I have a vague memory of a cartoon series of a talking penis, but I doubt if it was aimed at children. I think it was done by the guy who later wrote "Toujours Provence".

Wicked Willy, by Gray Jolliffe.

I remember reading the book as a kid, it was quite funny, and not dirty at all.

It's Finnish name was "Herra Heijari", which translates to "Mr. Schlong".

fat willy's surf shack. fucking hell. i went to the south west, in about 1992, and this was an eye-opener into the base mindset of some of my countrymen.
