Citrus doesn't really have seasons, they grow all year. However, pommelos and tangerines et al are more often sold in the winter.

andy --, Thursday, 26 January 2006 21:45 (twenty years ago)

This thread just makes me want a grapefruit.

"Citrus doesn't really have seasons, they grow all year. However, pommelos and tangerines et al are more often sold in the winter."

eh?... tangerines are more often sold in winter because that is when they ripen. they are in season november - start of may. (as are navel oranges and blood oranges). in the summer you months you can buy Valencia oranges (season late feb to nov).

lemons & limes i believe grow year round.

i don't care for grapefruit

they are so tart, but sweet -- and so colorful! just the right size too. i have been enjoying regular oranges a lot lately, but blood oranges are really next level.

i might go back to the produce market for more because i already ate the three i bought yesterday.

Hmm...I wonder if they have these in the market yet. They're only around for about a month here, which makes them even more delectable.

DVD cover needs more teal btw.

Are you...OUT FOR BLOOD?

high five delivery device (Abbbottt), Saturday, 11 February 2012 02:00 (fourteen years ago)

I always look for blood oranges in London but they usually only have them at, like, Whole Foods at High Street Kensington, which is a pain in the ass - but I just found out they sell them at a Carluccios, of all places, right near my house. 50p each but super worth it.

I have eaten two blood oranges and I can CONCLUSIVELY say there is ZERO CORRELATION between the level of peel ruddiness and the level of innards' deep red bloodiness.

cashmere tears-soaker (Abbbottt), Friday, 2 March 2012 04:39 (fourteen years ago)
