This bitch has almost as many books as the fall has records. Help me make sense of it all.

i really like The Assignation, a book of very very short stories, all of which are really weird, almost Barthelme-esque a times. It was the first thing I ever read by her and isn't like anything else she wrote.

I read a few of her early novels and they were quite good.

For a long time it seems she wrote too many books to get quite the respect she maybe deserved, but maybe she's blown past that by now and people dig her because she manages to publish 50 books a year, 10 more than Stephen King, and not suck as much as him. I dunno.

She's a huge favourite of mine, and I have loved everything I've read of her, which is maybe twenty books, so only around a fifth of her output. I've reviewed a couple on Freaky Trigger. Blonde was a huge hit and is fantastic, and I love any of hers about teenagers suddenly getting a local fame or notoriety - they're always astonishing. Maybe my favourite is a very slim novel, Dark Water (unless it's called Black Water), like Blonde more or less a novel a clef, about Teddy Kennedy and the car going into the water.

yea black water, v good, v sad

anybody ever listen to the audio --In 2007, The New York Times Book Review editor Dwight Garner wrote that Amanda Plummer's "cool, dark telling" of Black Water was "the best book on tape ever recorded".[9]

i finished reading it just now sitting on my back porch
i was reclining in a lawn chair w/ headphones on, lana del rey playing, as is my summer lifestyle
and literally as i finished it & having been really engrossed in it btw
(oh i was also stoned)
i sat up and there was a deer directly in my field of vision like idk 8-10 ft from me
nothing happened for a few secs cuz i couldnt really process it
it stayed still-ish & was starting to move like toward me even more
then i freaked out for a sec and i think by moving around it got scared and ran
and when it ran there was also like a cat by my patio and it freaked and ran in a diff direction
