This is our comapny's logo which I only have as a .jpeg. I want to re-create it, alter it and use bits of it in other things so I need to know what font it is.
It's very similar to 'Eurostile' but not the same.
I know a few people on here lover their hot typesetting action.

Damn! I always have problems with image links nowadays.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v360/morethanrats/phonicsfont.jpg
Hmmm. Is there an easy way to work it out? I see the curves are actually quite flat, and the I has little lugs, but that doesn't really help me.
― mei, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 20:38 (seventeen years ago) link
Probably "Alpha Headline" (see lineto.com). However, I think it's been stretched vertically in photoshop by about 15% (which cheapens the look of any typeface).
― Spencer Chow, Tuesday, 22 May 2007 20:53 (seventeen years ago) link
Unfortunately, I don't think that font is available for purchase at the moment (Mitsubishi has an exclusive license for it til 2012). You may be able to find a clone. Not sure.

Looks quite a bit like Bell Gothic, too, although the curve on the "O" and "C" is slightly different.

Thanks for all your help on this, usingthe name 'alpha headline' as a starting point I managed to track down a free version of the font used on UK car number plates, which is close enough for my purposes.

Yeah, well, the usual nerdy caveat to the "what font" question is that "it may not be a font", i.e., you's gots to whip out the Illustrator and touch it up y'self.

Not a question, but just an observation: I was yanking fonts out of Ubuntu in an effort to get a little better speed out of it -- font management does not exist in Linux, unsurprisingly -- and a vast majority of the real sludge, the bottom of the barrel tasteless offensive UGH fonts that came with the distro were by this popular fellow: http://www.larabiefonts.com/.
Bottom line here: Ray Larabie wants to taste the fucking curb.

29/34 though there was a lot of educated guesses.
I have to admit, that as a struggling designer/typophile, I've always been TERRIBLE at recognizing fonts.
I'm excited to start my metal type collection and just get a few sizes of a few basic fonts and use them for everything and deal with the limitations of having 10 fonts instead of 8,000.
Like, I just want Sabon and Univers and then some display faces.
