Written by Christopher Priest!

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 20:39 (twenty years ago)

It's based on Priest's original novel. Yeah, I've been looking forward to this since he mentioned it last year -- very interesting choice of novel, and it could work. (I emphasize 'could.')

Is the novel as good as Carter Beats the Devil?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 20:40 (twenty years ago)

Based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel, Bale and Jackman play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets.

Priest is the same guy who later did the revamped(and much funnier) Black Panther, right?

Also, Battlin' Victorian Magicians! Excellent!

Ezra Buzzington sounds like an ILX screen name.

I'm an acquaintance of Glen David Gold from grad school days so I don't want to sound biased. ;-) (He's a great guy, BTW -- has well deserved his success since then.)

And Bowie is definitely in as Testa according to imdb, yet remains mysteriously absent from the trailer. Mystery abounds!
