It's based on Priest's original novel. Yeah, I've been looking forward to this since he mentioned it last year -- very interesting choice of novel, and it could work. (I emphasize 'could.')

Based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel, Bale and Jackman play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets.

Priest is the same guy who later did the revamped(and much funnier) Black Panther, right?
