ingrown madness

Gentlemen,
i need a reccomondation on how to get rid of irritated skin and ingrown hairs. its really becoming annoying.

i generally shave every 1-3 days. with a 3 blade razor and gel shaving cream.

do electric razors help to alleviate these bumps? i never wanted to just experiment because i never wanted to spend upwards of 80 dollars on a "nice" razor, just to try and have it fail.

dear bob peck

in my experience electric razors suxx, tho it seems odd to have this probem with a triple blade. are you moisturising?

ps i loved you in Slipstream

Exfoliate! Mix baking soda with liquid soap, scrub face thoroughly, especially in beard areas, then rinse and dry. Hot, clean washcloth on face for a few minutes (and yes, it must almost be painful) then off and shave. Less bumps fior you I hope.

Conversely, shave more often, or change your blade more often.

i moistureize after shaving.
also i shave with grain.
also i always shower before shaving, so my skin is whatever.

Grow beard. Buy fix-gear. Roll up pant leg.

I use an old-style double-sided razor and brush & mug, it's one of my few indulgences. I had an ingrown on the chin for a time but it's faded into obscurity.

I saw a dude in a union square SF fashion boutique rockin' the bike msgr look with the wrong pant leg rolled up, i couldn't tell if it was ironic or not!

i love seeing people taking chicago train system dressed up as if htey were bike messangers with cut off cargo pants high socks or long underwear beards or bike hats and messenger bags, i always wonder why they're on the train, is it a costume or are they into it, where is their bike? its a mystery for the ages.

shower, then
exfoliate, then
use moisturising shave gel or cream, then
shave, then
moisturise, then
do whatever it is you do for the rest of the day

Yes, with grain. At first it might not feel like you're getting as close a shave as you would against, but after a while it will work, and you can go against for touchups. Also, shave in the shower, or keep a hot towel on your face before. Make sure when you lather the shaving cream gets under the hairs (lifts 'em so they're easier to cut). Rinse off the blade after ever stroke, and when you're done, rinse your face with cold water.

I've tried different electrics and found they tend to chew on the skin rather than cut the hairs. YMMV.
