Have we had a thread yet about how obnoxious threads titles that remark on the lack of a thread on [x] are?

I fucking hate this (I've done it!) but I feel this meta thread is exempted by virtue of calling attention to how turdly your threads are!

yeah it is an odd way of phrasing the thread title. good spot!

Konal Doddz (blueski), Monday, 20 March 2006 18:02 (twenty years ago)

how obnoxious threads titles that remark on the lack of a thread on [x] are what?

ken c (ken c), Monday, 20 March 2006 18:13 (twenty years ago)

I hate them too, make a duplicate thread, come up with an original title or original angle, or use the search function.

Ed (dali), Monday, 20 March 2006 18:44 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, it's annoying all right.

The Day The World Turned Dayglo Redd (Ken L), Monday, 20 March 2006 18:49 (twenty years ago)

The Day The World Turned Dayglo Redd (Ken L), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 00:08 (twenty years ago)

i'm pretty pissed/surprised/aware of the fact that there hasn't been a thread on this yet

gear (gear), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 00:10 (twenty years ago)

I dis/approve

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 00:34 (twenty years ago)

You should start a thread about it.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 00:38 (twenty years ago)

It's been done.

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 00:41 (twenty years ago)

plz use search function

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 01:38 (twenty years ago)

It's a clever way to avoid having Ned scoff and throw your thread to the sharks. Many a night I have cried out of sheer embarrassment for creating a duplicate thread after searching for word [x] when there actually was a thread about [x], just under the synonymous name [y].

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Tuesday, 21 March 2006 02:33 (twenty years ago)

Similar/related: when there's a "Quick, List Everything That Conforms To The Following Arbitrary Criteria!" thread, and somebody says "I can't believe nobody's said X yet", when X was in fact mentioned in the first post, and about eighty-one times after that.

Michael A Neuman (Ferg), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 02:44 (twenty years ago)

ned is a complete bastard for that

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 02:45 (twenty years ago)

Poor spelling, I'll grant, does impede th effective use of the search function, occasionally.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 21 March 2006 06:45 (twenty years ago)

curtis otm.

BUT the issue can be addressed in the text of the first post (like "i searched, but if there's already a thread on this, someone just gimme a link please") without putting it in the actual thread title.
