I know he's really famous and been around for years but I always always have to look up his name. I just have a blank spot for his name, even though it's quite a good. memorable name.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:31 (twenty years ago)

That almost looks like a Botox-ed up Jeremy Piven.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:48 (twenty years ago)

I mostly know Christine Baranski as the actress who was Joanna Lumley to Cybill Shepard's Jennifer Saunders, what else has she been in?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:49 (twenty years ago)

I think she's the one they hire whenever a film needs someone to play a cold high society woman. I've seen her in that same role quite a few times, most recently in Marci X.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 13:54 (twenty years ago)

She's no Jessica Walter.

More like the third line Jack Nicholson, I dare say Michael Ironside is the second line:

It frightens me that I know all of these names without looking them up. What a productive use of neurons. :\

What scares me even more is that I know that Xander Berkeley, next to Dick Miller up there, is married to fucking Debra Winger? WHY DOES MY BRAIN KNOW THIS???

phil d. (Phil D.), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 14:15 (twenty years ago)

Xander Berkeley, next to Dick Miller up there, is married to fucking Debra Winger?

I thought he was married to Sarah Clarke that played Nina Myers in 24?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 16:06 (twenty years ago)

And Debra Winger was married to Timothy Hutton for a while, but I think not anymore?

Another character actress that I can't find a decent photo of: Billie Bird, who was the gun-toting old lady in the Police Academy

kingfish ubermensch dishwasher sundae (kingfish 2.0), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 17:39 (twenty years ago)

Actually, how many (frequently used) character actresses are out there? I can only think of Anne Ramsey(RIP), Billie Bird(RIP), Edie McClurg, ...

oh yeah, and Zelda Rubenstein:

After having seen Little Miss Sunshine I have to add him to the list. I was like, "Hey, it's... er, that guy!", and had to wait for the end titles to remember who he was.

Often facial-haired, usually plays cops/people-of-authority.

nickalicious, Monday, 26 February 2007 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

(btw his name is MC Gainey and he is truly one of my favorite actors, but I didn't know his name until recently - I usually referred to him as "Pink Panty Meltdown" in reference to one of his many great lines in Club Dread)

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Thursday, 11 December 2008 09:48 (seventeen years ago)

Well, maybe he's a star in UK, but for me he's definitely "Hey, it's that guy!" type of actor.

Tuomas, Thursday, 11 December 2008 09:50 (seventeen years ago)

http://www.thequarter.org/issue12/VincentSchiavelli.jpg

Yes. I think my friend once referred to him as the the guy whose everywhere but no one knows (or something to that extent.

I remember this was pretty prominent with Ben Stein and David Cross, who both grew out of it.

I've been re-watching Twin Peaks lately, and I can never get over the fact of how Don S. Davis (above) looks like serious cat!

Looking at the "British actors playing Americans" thread, I just realized I meant to post a picture of Tom Wilkinson, not Ray Winstone:

http://www.jeffcarnahan.com/photos/20080217-Oscar_Picks/Michael_Clayton-Tom_Wilkinson.jpg

Apparently I've confused them with each other for all these years.
