Turn of the Screw

There's no thread on this little potboiler what made Lovecraft and yours truly pop boners aplenty! God, I love this book. Some of the only scary children in the world of horror, and about 800 levels of "is this real?". Apparently there was no contemporaneous questioning of whether the ghosts were real or not.

Praise, debate, conjecture ahoy! I tip my hat to you Herr James!

Hahaha, I thought the opra was hilarious, esp. the scene where they're all throwing fruit at each other.

Would make sense, Frued-style "hysteria" in the woman making her all guano loco. Little Miles just needed to induce "paroxysms" in her.

haha - 'turn of the screw' indeed!!

finally read this earlier this year, in conjunction with Shoshana Feldman's lengthy essay on it, about which I remember very little except that it had exactly the right amount of Lacan

I've read every James novel except one, reread most of the major ones several times, but I'm no fan of this nouvelle.
