Putting, Mini Golf, Crazy Golf - classic or what?

Seaside institutions!

I love mini-golf on holiday.

There's a classic mini-golf made entirely of mosaic in Tenerife, little mosaic bridges and streams. (It also has a bar so you can stand with your beer while waiting for the people in front to take their turn)

I got my first hole in one at a mini-golf in Pitlochry on the eighteenth - my shining moment.

Do you enjoy mini-golf? Putting?

Where is your favourite Crazy Golf course?

Indulge me - it's almost the weekend!!!

We were menat to have a crazy golf FAP but it never happened, we should ressurect that idea.

I admit, I'm not only RUBBISH at the above, but also remarkably flukey.

As with table tennis, I can't get over hitting the ball full power.

I'm the man.

It's all fantastic and as you say a seaside institution. I've had fun with all the family, although number one son has exploded a few times when he took 17 strokes on one hole, but hey, that makes it more entertaining for the rest of us!

Places I've played include Bridlington (Crazy Golf, not brilliant), Sowerby (just near Bridlington, putting and pretty good. There's also a pitch and put course there), and Boscombe (very good). Also putting on Tooting Bec Common (where one afternoon my good lady wife got two hole in ones) and many years ago putting at St Andrews.

Putting at St Andrews with the old course in the background...

I played Crazy Golf for the first time with the kids when on holiday a year or two back. I was surprised at how competitive I turned out to be.

Mr R can be quite serious about it and goes in an awful huff if I treat it too lightly!

Of course, when he tells me to stop dicking about I find it even harder to play seriously and things get messy.

They got rid of the mini-golf course I played on as a lad and replaced it with a bloody ice rink. I was far more upset about the mini-golf course closing down than I was when my old school closed down.

Apparently London's Best minature gold course is at Palmer Green, anyone up for a game?

Ed (dali), Friday, 21 April 2006 10:31 (twenty years ago)

Total classic. But i've not played on a putting green since I left Prestwick 15 years ago.
God knows when the last time i played crazy golf. I seem to remember playing it when i was 14 or 15 when on holiday in Spain.

Not a sport. A GAME! Therefore I can play with impunity. Even though I'm rubbish at it. And don't like games anyway. But actually, Crazy Golf is not a game, it's AN AMUSEMENT and therefore safe for all.

Hurrah!

I punched the air in triumph when I got a hole-in-one in the sodding windmill. I wouldn't have thought I'd have cared, but apparently I did. Crazy Golf definitely brought out a ruthless streak in me which I hadn't realised I had.

That looks great! Best crazy golf I've ever been on is one on International Drive in Orlando which involves you climbing up hills and aiming balls through holes in the ground where the ball falls through to a lower level and you have to go down steps to complete the hole. With added crocodiles.

I was a bit excited with the idea of the pirate-themed indoor one they put in round the corner from me, but it turned out to just be boring all-on-one-level gimmick-free shit with a couple of plastic parrots.

i really want to go to one with windmills

ken "save-a-finn" c (ken c), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

I went to one with windmills when i was in Cyprus a few years ago. My anger at not being able to bypass the damn thing's blades was not a pretty sight.
