Stop a an Ugandan lesbian refugee from being deported off Britain.

I got this in an email today:

http://www.elizabethmuststay.co.uk/

It isn't a chain letter thing or anything, and doesn't look like a hoax. It urges people to fax or write or to the Minister of Immigration, and I guess it'd be more effective if the letters come from actual Britons rather than random Finns, so I decided to put it up here. Sorry for spamming.

why should i care more about lesbians than straight people?

I would imagine in this instance her life was under threat because of her homosexuality perhaps? I can't imagine any point in bringing it up otherwise - it makes it sound like "land rights for gay whales!".

Land Fish for Gay Whales.

Trayce is correct. It is thought that the woman will be persecuted in Uganda for being gay (and poss. for being a traitor, maybe a few other things).

I believe she had difficulty proving her status as a lesbian.

I think letters from random Finns would be quite effective, in that it would show that word gets around.

Maybe she could stay at Tuomas's house.

Problem solved!

I believe she had difficulty proving her status as a lesbian.

Yeah, apparently one "proof" held against her supposed lesbianism was that she has a kid. As if the world isn't full of homosexuals with kids, especially in areas where it is expected for women to get married and bear children.

Do we need *more* hypocrites in the UK?

*well, you know, grinning and bearing it.

I wish, I'd noticed this thread twelve days ago, it makes me sad (not that the Home Office lets little things like PUBLIC OPINION stand in the way of its decision making processes. Fuckers.).

oh, i thought this was going to be a link to a cool video game

gbx (skowly), Thursday, 15 June 2006 00:30 (seventeen years ago) link

hahahahaha

That's an order of magnitude better than my "Why is she hiding from Ugandan lesbians?" joke.

That is funny, about the video game. It made me laugh out loud, quietly.
