Everything H-wood action crappers should be and aren't -- fast, unpretentious, 83 minutes, and with two leads who are stratospherically sexier than Cruise-Bloomps automatons (esp David Belle, who certainly IS). Co-written by Luc Besson.

ah, we almost never get shorts in NYC.

I thought it was alright. It made no goddamn sense at all, but since when has that been a requirement for kungfu movies? The main thing is they filmed the freerunning and big fat ogre fight pretty well.

I liked this quite a bit, actuallly. But didn't it come out well over a year ago.

it was a ton of fun, but they set up the action sequences badly. it opens with that jaw-dropping chase scene, moves onto the stellar drug bust shootout, and then there's like half an hour of not very much which leads you to believe the finale is going give you a heart attack. but then the final action sequence is kind of paltry, leaving you feeling let down.

nitpickers!

This opened in NYC about 3 weeks ago, I'm sure the Euro release was '04 tho.

I liked it a lot (although nothing was quite as exciting as the initial opening tenement chase--which admittedly was one of the best sequences I've seen in ages so it was a high bar.) I hope that Besson keeps churning these out.

For real? It was playing in PODUNKVILLE SASKATCHEWAN like 2 months ago!

You must have fewer French boycotters there.

Alex, have you been doing 'Parkour' all over SF?

Oooh this makes me want to see the new James Bond movie!

I have! I leaped over a gigantic unidentifiable smear on the pavement yesterday!

TOMBOT, Friday, 4 May 2007 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

Tom, we should co-star in the inevitable US remake.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 10 May 2007 15:59 (nineteen years ago)

I guess that makes me the overzealous cop

TOMBOT, Thursday, 10 May 2007 16:00 (nineteen years ago)

I am too old to do parkour. I can't vault over those 15-inch concrete barricades in D.C.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 10 May 2007 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

we can rewrite your part to be more like the friendly gendarme from The Transporter

TOMBOT, Thursday, 10 May 2007 16:10 (nineteen years ago)

OH YAY I LOVED THIS MOV. We will RESCREEN it soon.

Laurel, Thursday, 10 May 2007 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

Hmm none of those parkour docs are available on Nflix. Bummerz.

You know I will move heaven and earth and my neighborhood drug dealers and their hopped-up street racing cars to see this.
