man if Jayne was a dog he would totally be a beagle.

Malcom does the "wounded Mal look" perfectly. :D

did "in her shoes" start the puggle crazee?

a.b. (alanbanana), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 01:09 (nineteen years ago)

What's that? I got mine from a friend of my mom's who needed to get rid of her puppies, so I just paid for vet fees. I heard they can be expensive though.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 01:11 (nineteen years ago)

No no. KIDS are expensive.

kingfish, I don't see how Dexter could POSSIBLY be evil. :p

Aww Nathalie your dog looks so sweet, I bet she takes good care of the baby.

Malcom slept in my bed last night and I am pretty sure he has fleas. :/ He also did an amazingly good job at stealing my bed from me, for a two-pound puppy. HE IS STILL CUTEST EVER THOUGH. My mom's dog absolutely loves him too.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

Good advice: don't let your dog sleep in your bed, you're basically giving him the mesage he's the boss. Lucy slept in our bed for a long time (after Basiel died). But since I was pregnant, I decided enough was enough, the bed was ours. Now she sleeps on a blanket next to our bed. She's a sweetie. I do feel as though I neglect her now that we have Ophelia... :-( Lucy's already about 12,5 yrs old!!!! I hope she becomes 35 yrs old. But alas I know ever day we have her, is one we shoudl treasure because bassets don't get really old apparently.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 13:07 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think this is suitable for a young puppy. I've heard all about this 'grooming'.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah Malcom is so friendly and naive. He would probably send pics to anyone who asked!

OHMIGOSH TRACY IS GORGEOUS. What kind of dog is that?

We got her from the shelter, so we don't entirely know. We're thinking she's more or less a Shitz... sheltie/spitz. She's also older than dirt, nearly 16. (And doing great, now that we've changed her diet to old-dog food.)

So: beagle ears, shortened beagle snout, puggy eyes, pug tale, and kind of a mixed body?

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 00:26 (nineteen years ago)

someone on cnet.com's dog pages or msn or one of those had a half-beagle, half-bulldog (don't know if it was an English bulldog or a pit bull or which of those kind) and I think I fell in love.

It looked like it had a beagle's body with a bit more mass, and then a HUGE beagle-ish head.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 00:27 (nineteen years ago)

Pretty much, some of them have more puggy faces than others. I like that his is not too puggy because I am not a big fan of pugs and their breathing problems would probably make me way too paranoid. His body seems kind of stocky like a pug, but he might just be kind of fat, I can't tell. :p

MY BOSS SAID I CAN BRING HIM TO WORK TOMORROW.

Lauren, I think there's a poodle upthread.

There is another Malcolm connected to ILX, and he says hello. Or will when he finishes his ice cream. The mug feeding him is my dad.

Malcolm is a just a spotty bugger with no brindle at all on him. Are both dogs harlequins or does brindle on the Dane make it something else?

suzy (suzy), Thursday, 20 July 2006 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

veruca is a blue merle.

usually harlequins have much larger patches of black and white than malcolm has, so im not sure. maybe a merle/harliquin mix of some kind?

sunny successor (katharine), Thursday, 20 July 2006 18:37 (nineteen years ago)

Malcolm is just a weird dog any way you look at him. I just got a tranche of other Malc photos and I think he might qualify as a new subset: Cookies and Cream Great Dane (it must be what Dad is feeding him upthread). He just isn't blue at all.

I am glad that at least Suzy, if no-one else, is able to spell Malcolm correctly.

I want a beagle. Or a puggle. I had a beagle when I was wee, and it was lovely and I want one of my own now. Perhaps I should show this thread to my husband and go "look! cute dogs!" until he gives up and lets me get one.

Malcom—or Malcolm, however you wanna spell it—is too cute! Loved the photos of him you shared with us. Looking at them makes me want another puppy. hahaha

I like this picture.

http://static.flickr.com/58/193018626_9ca942749b.jpg

It reminds me of the first time my pugs, Oliver and Jack, got to investigate the backyard. That's always fun to watch! :)

His tail looks pretty long. Oliver's tail was about that long (maybe not *quite* as long, now that I think of it) when he was a puppy and his curled around twice. I wonder if your little guy will get a double-curl in his. Puggles' tails do curl like pugs' tails do, don't they?

Mama Roux (Mama Roux), Sunday, 23 July 2006 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

I totally want one of those. Wuv!

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 23 July 2006 09:00 (nineteen years ago)

In keeping with the "wuv" tradition, I think his name should be spelled Malcum.

Beth Parker (Beth Parker), Sunday, 23 July 2006 12:51 (nineteen years ago)

Maelcum?

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 23 July 2006 13:48 (nineteen years ago)

Mama Roux--yes, his tail should curl. It's already getting a curl, actually, which apparently is unusual for puggles at this age (although he can and does straighten it out). He's an odd one--he seems to be inheriting beagle tendencies where he should be getting pug ones and vice-versa in some respects--we figured out this weekend he definitely barks/howls like a beagle.
