President Bush vetoed a bill for the first time today, using his constitutional power to reject legislation passed by Congress that would expand federal research on embryonic stem cells, a step he said would be crossing a “moral line.”
“This bill would support the taking of innocent human life,” Mr. Bush said at the White House, surrounded by scores of children born as a result of an embryo-adoption program and their parents.
“Each of these human embryos is a unique human life with inherent dignity and matchless value,” Mr. Bush said. Looking at the children around him, he said to loud applause, “These boys and girls are not spare parts.”
The president said his own position on stem cell research, articulated in 2001, already allowed research “without sanctioning the practices that violate the dignity of human life.”

yup, we've been talking about it
here, too. I'm wondering if they'll try for an overturning vote.

I think they supported the pro-democracy(note: actual democracy) forces in Ukraine like two years ago.
Other than that, not a damn thing, he's probably been quote pleased with himself for what he was done:
let's see:
-dumped two more really conservative types on the Supreme court
-nominated a shit load more conservative types to fedeal benches
-created an entire framework to justify as much power grabbing as they could have
-got re-elected
-deliberately appointing folks who'd run FEMA straight into the ground, so's other conservatives could cry for the demolishment of that department.
-appointed plenty of corporate lackeys and fundies to various government heads(EPA/FDA/CBC/etc)
-dumped a shit load of money into conservative churches thru the "faith-based thing"
-heavily damaged public education while continually calling for more charter/parochial/private/voucher shit
-"starved the beast" pretty goddamn well
-got his neocon lackeys in charge of the World Bank, installed at the UN, etc

In all fairness, no one who considers themselves socially conservative would think these were bad things. Even though they are.

that's what I meant. Social Conservatives would hold that he's done plenty of good things, those two being examples.
