There is a not-very-subtle oopsy in the thread title.

Oh and in this case [celebrity] = Uma.

She's not even single, she keeps on again off againing with some foreign billionaire douchebag playboy elderly man type.

My moms, 35ish seconds ago, on the phone: "she's tall and has big lips!".

My mom recommended Orlando Bloom to me, the other day. Who is not even single, so at least your mom is considering the dating statuses of all involved?

Did you correct her spelling?

Presumably that fancy day out you had in April, you know, with the white dress and the vows and that, escaped her notice somewhat?

the future ally bloomps

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Thursday, 20 July 2006 19:12 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, it does seem kind of odd, though she did preface it with "No offense to Tom" so...well, no, actually I don't have reasons.

doaple you'll be happy to know that chuck norris is my moms' abosulte crush.

I'm in good with her dad at the Tibet House. I'm a sure thing for banging Uma.

IPSISSIMUS (Uri Frendimein), Thursday, 20 July 2006 21:08 (nineteen years ago)

I'm so glad my family is Catholic so this kinda shit doesn't happen.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 20 July 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

After watching an admittedly sympathetic "Behind the Music" portrait of him, my mother was completely convinced that the perfect man for me was Weird Al Yankovic.

"His hair is kind of weird, but he's so nice!"

I'm so glad my mom thinks I'm a total freak of nature so this kinda shit doesn't happen.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Thursday, 20 July 2006 23:25 (nineteen years ago)

haha this happened today, sort of, only it was one of my friends and her philosophy professor and she wants him for her boyfriend. or to sleep with him. or anything she can get, really. but she likened it to a celebrity crush. (her current boyfriend is ok with this. they're in a highly committed but open relationship of some sort, which i find pretty impressive considering that i've never even had a highly committed relationship with ONE person.)

Dom is right -- this kind of thing doesn't happen in Catholic families. Thank God.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Friday, 21 July 2006 01:33 (nineteen years ago)

Yes it bleedin' does.

Stone Monkey (Stone Monkey), Friday, 21 July 2006 08:25 (nineteen years ago)

Haha the Thurman gene pool is quite shallow - neighbour was at boarding school with UT's little brother, who was so thick he couldn't even get into the college his dad teaches at, on the faculty brat plan, which is saying something.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 21 July 2006 08:30 (nineteen years ago)

must be Mipam, as Dechen went to Harvard (and got a shout-out in a Beastie Boys song)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 21 July 2006 12:43 (nineteen years ago)

dom should marry the pope

ken c (ken c), Friday, 21 July 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

Dechen also hit on a Barnard friend of mine (but who didn't?)

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 21 July 2006 12:48 (nineteen years ago)

I thought the Dechen shout out on 'The Grasshopper Unit' was actually to MCA's wife?

Headspin (Barima), Friday, 21 July 2006 13:01 (nineteen years ago)

that, uh, might make more sense

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 21 July 2006 13:04 (nineteen years ago)

Well this thread went straight to hell.

Allyzay will never stop making pancakes (allyzay), Friday, 21 July 2006 13:04 (nineteen years ago)

Yes it bleedin' does.

Your family must be one of those newfangled post-Vatican II ones, then. Because mine? 100% old-school style.

Phoenix Dancing (krushsister), Friday, 21 July 2006 22:46 (nineteen years ago)

barima, otm.

Just to add to the pointless name-dropping, my friend teaches at the same yoga studio as D.Urman (as opposed to D.Yauch)
