No rogue "English vs. American styles of dishwashing" threads fans, either!

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:15 (nineteen years ago)

I must admit that I find the carcrash (no pun intended) that is the bikes vs. cars: FITE! threads more amusing as they're not actually emotionally engaging for me, as I'm neither a car driver or bicyclist.

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:16 (nineteen years ago)

I believe that pun was intended.

Whitman Mayonnaise (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:30 (nineteen years ago)

I think the bike people are not understanding that I hate other drivers AS MUCH AS OR MORE THAN they do.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:33 (nineteen years ago)

Bikes v. Cars every single time.

Allyzay will never stop making pancakes (allyzay), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:35 (nineteen years ago)

Is this different from atheists not understanding that most ordinary religious people dislike fundamentalist nutjobs AS MUCH OR MORE THAN they do? ;-)

It's just kind of interesting watching two sets of people utterly refusing to understand one another's positions, if you're not actually involved or affected.

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

Taking Sides: Christians vs. Atheists threads or Car Drivers vs. Bicyclists threads: FITE!, surely

Taking Sides: Christians vs. Atheists threads or Bicyclists vs. Car Drivers threads: FITE!

That's what it says, isn't it?

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:39 (nineteen years ago)

Oh wait, now I see. Why invert the order of the latter?

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:39 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's a mainstream attitude vs edgy counter-culture analogy structure.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:41 (nineteen years ago)

You can never prove that God exists or not, but car driving has been proved harmful to the environment and to other people. Therefore, the latter.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:41 (nineteen years ago)

Dude, shut up.

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha

Sploshette Moxy (Dada), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:43 (nineteen years ago)

You're just in denial. ;)

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:43 (nineteen years ago)

Tuomas, this isn't the fucking thread for it.

Allyzay will never stop making pancakes (allyzay), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:46 (nineteen years ago)

How endlessly recursive. A thread about which insoluable argument is more amusing turns into a rehash of the insoluable argument!

Am I in a Borges novel?

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:47 (nineteen years ago)

Aren't we all?

Jesus Dan (Dan Perry), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:49 (nineteen years ago)

Christian bicyclist = liberation theologist/weird fundie hippie
atheist bicyclist = leftist
Christian driver = evangelical
atheist driver = libertarian

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:50 (nineteen years ago)

What about vicars on bikes? They are a mainstay of rural village life from time immemorial!

http://www.christian-ecology.org.uk/img/bikes-studley.JPG

This one is enourmous so I will link, but it appears to be Queen Victoria, a vicar and a bicycling dog!

They could still be atheists, you know what the C of E are like

Sploshette Moxy (Dada), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

Oh yeah, true. My post was U.S.-specific, I guess. (xpost)

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

If Atheists believe in Atheism, do Bicyclists believe in Bicyclism?

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

I think the bike people are not understanding that I hate other drivers AS MUCH AS OR MORE THAN they do.

Dude I sussed that straightaway!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

They believe that life is bicyclical

Sploshette Moxy (Dada), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

She was really kinky, she was a bicysexual!

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

As a person professionally involved w/bikes and bicycling, I've learned to avoid any interweb discourse wr/t it whatsoever, as I always wind up, to nick nycalex' phrase, wanting all human life to cease on this planet.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:58 (nineteen years ago)

so, uh, I guess the other one, though I never read them.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 27 July 2006 13:59 (nineteen years ago)

Crucial distinction: abundance of car driving cyclists or bike riding drivers. Few Christian athiests.

ledge (ledge), Thursday, 27 July 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

That reminds me of my longstanding plan to do a version of Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle" as "My Wife's Bisexual"

Sploshette Moxy (Dada), Thursday, 27 July 2006 14:01 (nineteen years ago)

...except in the C of E, as Dada pointed out above.

x-post

Taking Sides "Taking Sides: Christians vs. Atheists threads or Bicyclists vs. Car Drivers threads: FITE!" vs Christians vs. Atheists threads and Bicyclists vs. Car Drivers threads: FITE!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 27 July 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

Bah, missed a "threads" in there somewhere :(

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 27 July 2006 14:07 (nineteen years ago)

Car drivers and athiests who lambast bicyclists and Christians are assholes. Evangelical bicyclists and Christians, however, need to get off the cross.

Fluffy Bear, Perpetual 12-Year-Old (Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows), Thursday, 27 July 2006 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

I'm an agnostic pedestrian. I win.

Louis Jagger (Haberdager), Thursday, 27 July 2006 19:11 (nineteen years ago)

YES!!!

They've brought up Zombies. Is there any thread that cannot be made better with Zombies?

Silver Machine Manor (kate), Friday, 28 July 2006 11:51 (nineteen years ago)

What about Christians in cars with bikes mounted to the roof?
