I just need to know; when I ship a record from the U.S. to Europe, could that cost me 26 bucks?

What's a normal shipping rate for a regular piece of vinyl, from US to EU?

a 13"x13"x1" & 1 pound package should cost about $10 for 4-7 day delivery.

I've been charged anything from $10-$16 to get vinyl from the USA to the UK. But the higher charges presumably include shipping AND HANDLING costs as ebay sellers and shops like to point out.

thanks Steve.

yeah those eBay people. its crazy, i feel very ripped off. they charge me 26 dollars for one piece of vinyl and i can't do anything about it. I will never buy again from people who don't list shipping costs in the description i guess..

One time I bought from a seller(who i'd previously bought from) and his costs were maybe $14 but he made me take out insurance as i used paypal. Which took it up to about what you paid. He had listed it as being like that though so and he said it was because overseas paypal users were getting stuff then filing a paypal complaint to get refunds and paypal just took it off him.

Other sellers sell the items cheap and charge excessive shipping so they can avoid giving Ebay the cut. Its against ebay rules and you should report the seller(wait til you get your record)

i contacted the seller about it. he said: "if there is any difference in shipping cost than what I was quoted I will be happy to refund the difference, but I'm sure you'll see from the postage affixed to the package that I was not joking"

so i guess i have to pay up and wait for that. which sucks

If you know what the package weighs and the dimensions, you can check the postage at http://www.usps.com

Some people don't know that they can send a box this size "air mail letter post," which I think costs less than "air mail parcel post."

i once bought a record from the US via ebay for $50, and after grudgingly paying for his excessive postage had to pay something like $15 extra when it arrived because the idiot had put $50 on the customs declaration. GAH!!!! (UK customs charge Import VAT on goods over £18)

nineteen years pass...

just read today that the Danish postal service is going to stop regular mail delivery :-(

There will still be some privatized service but the 400 year old mail service is winding down (but still doing parcels)

Wonder who will be next to follow this
