bloody hell, if i lost weight by worrying and stress there'd be nothing left of me! one of my friends has recently lost a HELL of a lot of weight, i'd estimate a stone or so, and she says that it's entirely through stress. however, i also happen to know that she's been on that STUPID no-carbs diet so i'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

however Sean, if you are under a lot of stress you really should do something about it, weight loss or no weight loss. take care of yourself.

When my wife and I are both under stress, I expand and she contracts. I am usually accused by her family of eating the food off of her plate at these times.

At any rate, my expansion is generally brought on by a change in diet (I nibble when stressed), where her weight loss is usually out-of- proportion to the slight loss of appetite she gets when stress. It happens.

Katie, does she smell funny?

RickyT, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

RickyT i have been looking out for eating disorder signs. she smells v. strongly of perfume!

katie, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Hmmm, stupid no-carbs diet makes you stink of nail varnish remover when it starts working. Perhaps all the perfume is a disguise.

That diet is really bad for your kidneys. If she does it for a couple of weeks, it won't do damage, but if she keeps it up, it will. My sister used to work in a law firm where they were all on this diet - she went on it too, and I had to beg and beg her to stop. She couldn't believe that so many lawyers could be wrong. I hope your friend gets wise soon - tell her it's really unhealthy!

as far as i'm aware she's been on it for months. i'll have a word. a v. LOUD word!

sadly the only way I ever lose weight is by hard graft (eg living up a big hill from town). Oh for stress related weight fluctuations, just for variety

Thank you for the disturbing mental image, Mike.

Dan Perry, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

So you're imagining a giant sugar sparkly brain too?

Ally, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yup. With big fangs.

I EAT YOUR LFEI!

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Now I am imagining that Mike Hanley speaks in a weird made up French- ish that includes words like l'fei. Je t'aime, je t'aime, l'fei. I'm way too hyper right now for someone who went to bed at 4:30.

Ally, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Mike is a most cunning linguist. Ugh, why did I say that?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Because you were channelling ME!

Dan Perry, Friday, 1 February 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I don't *need* to channel you, that happens automatically.
