Breakfast in London - tell me where

I'm visiting tomorrow and am going to the Spitalfields area. Where can I get breakfast? Something a bit classy preferably. Needs to be still serving breakfast at about 1030 - so ok, brunch really...thanks.

Konstam on the Kings cross Rd is the best but not that close to spitalfields. In spitlfields itself there is a branch of Leon which is also very good.

So you want brunch? ;-)

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 21 September 2006 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

I guess it is brunch! And I should have put that in the question...
Has anyone had breakfast at Smith of Smithfields? It's a slight trek to Spitalfields I know - and I've heard conflicting views about it.

Smiths is OK, but if you're going to trek there Konstam is the same distance away from spitalfields.

Billingsgate is a long way off, in docklands.

I went here...

I had a bacon sarnie, a smoothie and some porridge! They were all top.

Thanks Pete...lots to ponder there.

Anyone been to the Cock Tavern at Smithfield's?

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

I have, and it's great, in so far as it's is the repository for a substantial proportion for all the world's rejected formica. But I haven't been there for breakfast.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

Sadly I no longer trust Tim for top eating tips in that neighbourhood following the Golden Fish Bar affair.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

Marcello, what exactly was wrong with the golden fish bar, because I've never had anything other than fantastic fish and chips whenever I've been?

Vicky (Vicky), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 14:12 (nineteen years ago)

Oh well.

Actually I've never eaten in the Cock Tavern at all, but I have drunk in there. I'm not sure you'd like it.

And the GFB was not good that night, sorry again. (xpost Vicky it was supergreasy, I dunno if they didn't have their oil up high enough but the food wasn't good.)

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 14:14 (nineteen years ago)

I STILL TRUST YOU, TIM.

AGAINST MY BETTER JUDGEMENT.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

To be fair, your better judgement is only "better" in comparison with the rest of your judgement. Experience suggests that that's a pretty low standard of judgement.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

SHUT IT, GREASER.
