I fucking hate people

Whenever I start feeling like my misanthropic stance toward humanity is unjustified, I run across a story like this.

Young Fresh Danny D (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 September 2006 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, between this and the white parents who kidnapped their 19 year old enlisted daughter 'coz she might have been pregnant with a black guy's baby and forcibly tried to drive her to the clinic to abort the thing, humanity keeps hitting homers.

You must actually like people to care about this in the first place, though.

SHH YOU'RE GIVING AWAY THE SECRET

Young Fresh Danny D (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 September 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

Some people suck. Most don't. (Or if most do, let me have my delusions plz). It's just not news when your life is all about trying to keep dinnertime calm and make sure your kids are safe in bed every night. "If it bleeds it leads..."

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Sunday, 24 September 2006 18:36 (nineteen years ago)

people suck. this is why i put my faith in dogs:

he may hornk your potato chips straight off the plate when you're not looking, and won't tolerate not sitting in the front seat when you're driving, but on the whole, pretty ok.

I tend to distrust those who prefer animals to people (no offence, Kingfish). I am quite speciesist.

Dogs fucking suck, too.

Young Fresh Danny D (Dan Perry), Sunday, 24 September 2006 18:43 (nineteen years ago)

That's what you get for dressing your baby up like a pork chop.

milo z (mlp), Sunday, 24 September 2006 18:54 (nineteen years ago)

Not sure how this is showing up on anyone else's monitor- everything prints dark for me.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Sunday, 24 September 2006 19:07 (nineteen years ago)

thankfully/sadly not mine, but yes, that's not even the worst view of him. Someday I'll get a photo of his belly.

milo z (mlp), Sunday, 24 September 2006 19:12 (nineteen years ago)

still, once in a while, there is hope

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Sunday, 24 September 2006 20:04 (nineteen years ago)

not all kidnappings end in death, hoorah for the triumph of the human spirit!

señor citizen (eman), Sunday, 24 September 2006 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

both that story and the first one were local stories, it was a weird week in st louis.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 24 September 2006 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

at least penguins are still cool, right? right??

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 24 September 2006 21:33 (nineteen years ago)

Jessie, does your puggle have huge balls or am I seeing things?

milo z (mlp), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

That is his back paw, surely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

yeah that's a paw and/or the rug pattern. he has tiny testicles.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:16 (nineteen years ago)

This is why I like ILX so much: instead of discussing the moral and sociological implications of the initial story for our society, for our entire species, some dog's bollocks have managed to eclipse all that.

StanM (StanM), Sunday, 24 September 2006 22:42 (nineteen years ago)

An odd quote in that first story link of Dans:
"This is an opportunity for people to turn to God," said Debra Kenton, a member of the New Life Community Church. "Who else can explain things like this?"

How is that reassuring?! "Yeah see, God made man in his OWN IMAGE! Like, man chops people up and stuffs them in clothes dryers 'n shit. Its a comfort to know he's looking out for us all".

Trayce (trayce), Sunday, 24 September 2006 23:37 (nineteen years ago)

Umm, I'm guessing it's reassuring because it lets people believe that there are greater meanings and powers in the world, and that even if they can't make sense of seemingly pointless random evil themselves, there is some greater plan that encompasses all this, and if they have faith in such power and goodness then all the horrible crap around them won't matter, because they'll be part of something holy and bigger than that, something where their meaning as individuals isn't limited to being poor and surrounded by violence? Just guessing.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 25 September 2006 00:08 (nineteen years ago)

Well, probably. I was just being silly really :)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 25 September 2006 00:10 (nineteen years ago)

(Watch crime scene where cops found children's bodies -- :50)

RoxyMuzak© (roxymuzak), Monday, 25 September 2006 00:39 (nineteen years ago)

You can't be misanthropic because then you would hate misanthropy.

Mr Jones (Mr Jones), Monday, 25 September 2006 01:44 (nineteen years ago)

Dogs fucking suck...but people fucking suck worse:

kingfish prætor (kingfish 2.0), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 05:49 (nineteen years ago)

cats ftw

teh_kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:45 (nineteen years ago)

Hall remained jailed Sunday on $5 million bond, charged with first-degree murder in Tunstall's death and with intentional homicide of an unborn child.

???

The article mostly just made me think "wow there are some crazy people out there" apart from (Watch crime scene where cops found children's bodies -- :50) which make me wish for a 'delete humanity' button.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:21 (nineteen years ago)

I really have to use cognitive dissonance and pretend this is just not real. How do you come up with this shit? :-(

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:12 (nineteen years ago)

"(Watch crime scene where cops found children's bodies -- :50)"

WTF. Alert: basic lack of common humanity.
