There's a concerted move to stop Gordon.

Don't you think?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 07:53 (nineteen years ago)

it's amazingly boring. does cherie's comment even make sense?

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 07:57 (nineteen years ago)

Nah, it doesn't make much sense. I thought Alistair Campbell, hateful man tho he is, was highly entertaining on Channel 4 news last night, you don't want to get on the wrong side of him!

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:00 (nineteen years ago)

Nick Robinson has clearly got on the wrong side of him.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:01 (nineteen years ago)

Ha ha, that was priceless

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:01 (nineteen years ago)

alastair is not hateful and i want to be all over every side of him

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:04 (nineteen years ago)

nick robinson is a snivelling tory-boy.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:05 (nineteen years ago)

alastair campbell should be dragged behind a horse until dead.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:06 (nineteen years ago)

One of Alastair C's few redeeming qualities is that he hates Tories, always an admirable trait

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:07 (nineteen years ago)

alastair is so fit.

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:08 (nineteen years ago)

charlie whelan is weird.

i think one of the seminal episodes in new labour history was when campbell made an emergency visit to the channel 4 news back in june '03 to piss on the dodgy dossier stuff. visibaly angry with *no* humour that time; and he was defending liars and murderers and likely materially contributed to someone's suicide. he's an evil, evil motherfucker.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:11 (nineteen years ago)

There wasn't that much humour this time, unless, like me, you find hatred and contempt funny

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 08:14 (nineteen years ago)

Love the way the papers are all downplaying this today. Lucky for them nothing else is happening.

Ned T.Rifle (nedtrifle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:14 (nineteen years ago)

I despise Mr Campbell more than any Tory, I think. Perhaps I am wrong to do so but there you go.

Konal Doddz (blueski), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:34 (nineteen years ago)

I can't help thinking that anyone who hates Tories that much can't be all bad

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:37 (nineteen years ago)

and who is REALLY REALLY HOTT lest we forget

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:41 (nineteen years ago)

You're not convincing anyone with that argument lex

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:52 (nineteen years ago)

I love how every single person in the country knew it was a big fat lie on Brown's behalf but because Cherie said it it's suddenly massive news.

But then again she is in a better position to know than most.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:54 (nineteen years ago)

he'd be hotter when i set him on fire

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:55 (nineteen years ago)

i don't really hate him btw it just sounded like the thing to say at the time.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:56 (nineteen years ago)

i couldn't make out what was a lie. the news report i saw had her saying it when brown said something that wasn't a lie as such. it was presumably a deliberate attempt at sabotage on her part.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 09:58 (nineteen years ago)

Oh I don't think it was deliberate anything, I just think she opened her fat mouth and blabbed

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:00 (nineteen years ago)

If I was going to deliberately sabotage something, I wouldn't do so casually in earshot of an inconsequential Bloomberg journalist with no real vested interest. I'd go on Newsnight and do it, or at least make sure someone from the Graun or the Times was knocking around.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:04 (nineteen years ago)

well yeah, but i'm otherwise drawing blanks.

here we are:

"The moment came early in Mr Brown's speech when he was telling the conference: "It has been a privilege for me to work with and for the most successful ever leader and Labour prime minister." The news agency Bloomberg reported that Mrs Blair said "Well that's a lie," as she heard the chancellor's words on a big screen in the nearby exhibition centre."

which part of that is a lie?

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:04 (nineteen years ago)

... that it's a privilege to work with Tony Blair? Why do these people hate Brown so much?

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:06 (nineteen years ago)

right, it sounds like cherie's saying he's *not* the most successful leader, he's *not* a privilege to work with. odd!

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:07 (nineteen years ago)

Well, exactly. It makes no sense in context.

If he had said "I have enjoyed " blah di blah, then yeah.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:13 (nineteen years ago)

Apparently, one of the early reports had it that she said "I need to get by"

What else could it have been that got misheard as "Well, that's a lie!"

1. "Think I'm gonna cry"
2. "Is he gonna fly?"
3. "Well, that's a tie"

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

4. "I like his tie"

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:16 (nineteen years ago)

Cherie: You know, not many people know it, but Tony is a terrrrrrific dancer.
Jon Snow: Really? I never dreamed that...
Cherie: Zat is because you were taken in by that verdammte Brownite propaganda! Such filthy lies! They told lies! But nobody ever said a bad word about Gordon Brown, did they??!?? No! Brown! Viz his cigars, viz his brandy... and his ROTTEN paintings! Rotten!!! Tony Blair, THERE vas a painter! He count paint an entire apartment in one afternoon! TWO COATS! Brown! He couldn't even say "New Labour". He would say "Labour, Labour!" Ve vasn't LABOUR, ve vas NEW LABOUR! Browwwwwwwwwwwwwwnn!
Jon Snow: Exactly why...

Am I Re-elected Yet? (Dada), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:17 (nineteen years ago)

5. "bring me a fucking pie."

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:17 (nineteen years ago)

... actually that would have worked better with Alastair Campbell instead of Cherie

J. Reid: "Aw they long-haired eejits, ah cannae stand them. Ah remember when MUSIC wis MUSIC! What aboot a wee bit o' Foster and Allen, good auld Mick and Tony?"
G. Brown: "SHUT IT YOUSE! AH WULL BE PRIME MINISTER! JOHN TOYE WILL NOT HAVE DIED IN VAIN!"

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

T.Lex "erm who's john toye?"

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 10:52 (nineteen years ago)

With reference to 'liargate', Tony Blair said today: "At least I don't have to worry about her running off with the bloke next door." Curious.

Daniel Giraffe (Daniel Giraffe), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 12:56 (nineteen years ago)
