"we're here to make coffee...METAL. we're here to make everything...METAL."

looks hilarious

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 22:11 (nineteen years ago)

it's not very realistic.

how much, latebloomer? (latebloomer), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 22:17 (nineteen years ago)

Despite the SP kiss of death, I endorse this show (which shouldn't surprise Roffle Fascist and what at all).

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 22:19 (nineteen years ago)

Too bad about this, Home Movies was actually a very good show.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 22:23 (nineteen years ago)

it's not very realistic.

I like this show in theory more than in practice. The singer and the two Scandinavian dudes kill me. The Devin Townsend guy and the bassist really suck.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 27 September 2006 23:48 (nineteen years ago)

final somebody noticed that heavy metal is funny in the right light!

no real metal band would name themselves DeathKlok

metal is funny, yes, but i don't think Metalocalypse is making fun of it at all. Brendon Small's shows are great in part because they have their hearts set in the right direction. also because they're damn funny.

that being said, it's no Home Movies but i don't know how it could be

;Is it true that there is a custom Dethklok guitar currently in the works?

We’re working on an Epiphone. It’s going to be for public purchase. We’re still working on some legal contract stuff, but we have a guitar design that’s pretty fucking awesome actually. I won’t say too much about it, but it’s really cool. It’s the kind of thing that sometimes movies or TV shows do, a custom guitar. It’s like, “Oh, that’s of a cool collector’s item.” But this is a guitar we want you to be able to play and be able to be affordable and be able to look really cool, not look too ostentatious or flamboyant. So we’ll work on that and hopefully we’ll have some news about that.

Is it possible that the guitar will be announced at the next NAMM convention?

I don’t know. I would like to! We’ve got to start really getting that contract in place. Hopefully it will all happen after that. I think it’s a really cool opportunity. My first guitar was an Epiphone, and then I was hooked on Gibsons. I played all kinds of guitars in between then, but I kept coming back to Gibson stuff. I just naturally really like the guitars as well, their whole product line. I think it’s cool for kids to get a guitar that works that isn’t cheaply made and that is affordable.

I’m sure there are quite a few fans of Metalocalypse who are just learning to play guitar, so an affordable Epiphone is perfect.

When I say that I think about myself when I was 14 or 15, I do that very often because that kid is very much alive inside of me. This show is for guitar geeks. It really is. A lot of kids play guitar out there, and I think they need their own show. So I think this is me trying to put that out there.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

This is the best show on tv.

chaki, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:11 (eighteen years ago)

are there new episodes you can watch online?

my favorite episode is the rocknroll clown
also "summon the troll"

bell_labs, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

I wouldn't go that far, but it makes me laugh which is very important and not so easy these days. And I love the character design of the guy McDowell is voicing.

xp

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

i also like the one where they take their families to eat at the family restaurant, "burzum's"

The guitar lesson bonus feature on the DVD is the best moment of musical parody since spinal tap. I am not kidding.

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:49 (eighteen years ago)

John Justen, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

"but somes people come up to me and say 'hey skwisgaar! im pretty goods at sweep arpeggio! checks it out! hey im good!' but the truth is, NO, YOURE NOT, YOU SUCK"

roxymuzak, Tuesday, 25 December 2007 23:57 (eighteen years ago)

who do you all think the characters are based on? I am starting to think Toki = Fenriz a little bit.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 3 January 2008 22:06 (eighteen years ago)

Nathan is Corpsegrinder
Skwisgaar is every Swedish metal guy ever

chaki, Thursday, 3 January 2008 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

Skwisgaar has the makeup of Maniac from Mayhem! I think he is probably a composite. They have come out and said that they based Nathan on CG though, right?

roxymuzak, Thursday, 3 January 2008 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

im not sure. its pretty uncanny. dumb big florida death metal guy.

chaki, Thursday, 3 January 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

Huge neck.

roxymuzak, Thursday, 3 January 2008 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

some of this is wrongs

chaki, Thursday, 6 March 2008 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

i dont think they drew skwisgaar or toki with anyone specific in mind... they just wanted to cover the generic norweigan metal guitarist stereotype

pickles and murderface are dead-on, obviously

nathan explosion is more like peter steele + glen danzig + glen benton

the sir weeze, Thursday, 6 March 2008 23:36 (eighteen years ago)

nathan is so obv corpsegrinder. toki is prolly fenrez from darkthrone as roxy pointed out to me.

chaki, Friday, 7 March 2008 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

Pickles doesn't look like that, tho. That's just an early character design sheet.

kingfish, Friday, 7 March 2008 01:39 (eighteen years ago)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXtyYiI5HDk";>i dunno, i dont get the nathan explosion vibe from corpsegrinder

the sir weeze, Friday, 7 March 2008 02:34 (eighteen years ago)

dammit

the sir weeze, Friday, 7 March 2008 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

pickles looks so scary there :(
