Imelda Staunton plays the latino gangbanger I assume. She's in danger of getting typecast.

thank god there are white people to bring peace to all this senseless racism

I actually worked in a school where the majority of teachers were middle-class white teachers, and the students were inner city minority. It was a little awkward, and the students certainly didn't find the teachers inspirational (at least not in the Hollywood sense).

Students call male teachers "mister", which is pretty much standard in NYC public schools, but sounded odd somehow. "Hey, mister! Can you help me with this?"

I had an intro to teacher education class where all we did the whole semester was watch and analyse these. Mr. Holland's Opus, Dead Poet's Society, whatever the one was, oh it was recent, had some prick in it...they're all interchangable. WTF at those movies and my prof.

WTF at Dangerous Minds especially. Teaching kids the meanings of different parts of speech isn't exactly preparing kids to analyze poetry like she claims. Remember when it was a short-lived TV series starring Annie Potts?

Does Stand and Deliver fit into this category?

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Monday, 23 October 2006 23:18 (nineteen years ago)

Finding Forrester was hilarious. But no. KEVIN KLINE, that is the prick I'm thinking of, and it turns out the film was The Emperor's Club.

Abbott (Abbott), Monday, 23 October 2006 23:23 (nineteen years ago)

stand and deliver is the template, but edward james olmos is cleverly non-white
