This seems quite ridiculous!

C J (C J), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 12:00 (nineteen years ago)

nothing new, you can always get a license if you have enough money and grease the right palms.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

oh boston, when you get clue huh?

jhoshea megafauna (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 25 October 2006 12:08 (nineteen years ago)

five years pass...

Will be there in a few weeks. Your recommendations please?

calstars, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:26 (thirteen years ago)

What part of town are you staying in?

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)

Also, do you want recs specifically for beer or just in general?

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)

Cambridge I think near the water.

calstars, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

Bier

calstars, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:28 (thirteen years ago)

depending on where you will be, there are a ton of different places to go to get a ludicrous selection of beers, including:

The Publick House
Lord Hobo
Cambridge Brewing Company
Redbone's
Sunset Grill & Tap

Lord Hobo & CBB are in Cambridge, as is John Harvard's Brew House; Redbone's is in Somerville but is T-accessible on the red line, so if you are near Harvard, Central or Kendall it should be super easy to get to

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)

Sunset Grill & Tap - The place in Allston? o_O

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)

well it has a lot of beers...

ciderpress, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Thank you

calstars, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Deep Ellum is my favorite beer place in allston i guess. haven't been there in quite a while though

ciderpress, Friday, 6 July 2012 20:32 (thirteen years ago)

Those are all v good recs!

Ooohh there's that new place by Kendall Square which is in Cambridge - Mead Hall: http://themeadhall.com/. That is supposed to have a lot of beer.

Damn - http://twitpic.com/4pm5kq

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)

I had not heard of Mead Hall! intersting

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)

My bus goes by it. We should go there next FAP maybe.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Friday, 6 July 2012 20:38 (thirteen years ago)

zomg we are at Meadhouse right now

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Friday, 6 July 2012 23:05 (thirteen years ago)

I don't know if any of you have ever gone to Deep Ellum, but the Boston bar named after a Dallas neighborhood will shortly be stocking beer from the recently started Deep Ellum Brewing Company that is actually located in the Dallas neighborhood. I've only tried their IPA, which was solid. However, I don't really like IPAs so I can't tell you how it compares.

Maybe we can do a virtual toast at some point.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:50 (thirteen years ago)

huh, I've never even heard of that place

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:52 (thirteen years ago)

I guess it's in Allston or something? Made the news here, because it's the less than a year old brewery's first out of state deal.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:54 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it's like right in the heart of Allston according to the address

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)

ha and it was mentioned upthread

apparently I have a memory like a sieve

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

that was 4 days ago. Lots of water under the bridge since then.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 10 July 2012 18:57 (thirteen years ago)

I've been to Deep Ellum a couple times. It's OK but it's usually packed and really loud. I'm old and less tolerant of both those things now.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Tuesday, 10 July 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, agreed. also, i had the wrong kind of glasses on.

uncondensed milky way (remy bean), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 01:40 (thirteen years ago)

(just went to meadhall; bunch of IPO-drunk power nerds stole my couch when i went up to order drinks; enjoyed the mead)

uncondensed milky way (remy bean), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 01:41 (thirteen years ago)

deep ellum is fantastic and literally the only reason to be in allston most of the time

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 01:51 (thirteen years ago)

i'll go again, but only if you'll be my beatrice past the dudes in the bearadvocate.com shirts

uncondensed milky way (remy bean), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 01:55 (thirteen years ago)

beeradvocate.com. bearadvocate.com is probably something different

uncondensed milky way (remy bean), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 01:55 (thirteen years ago)

I liked it - it's just too loud and crowded! I feel similarly about River Gods.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 02:08 (thirteen years ago)

the silhouette is way better than deep ellum anyway (says the ghost of 22-year-old me)

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 02:16 (thirteen years ago)

which is to say i have no idea what it's like now, but in those days i was on such close personal terms with paulie the resident drunk that he once affectionately offered me half his cape codder gratis

scream blahula scream (govern yourself accordingly), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 02:17 (thirteen years ago)

lol my 21/22 year old self would have said something similar about The Model.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 02:27 (thirteen years ago)

yeah remy i'm not signing up for much involving the guys who would use bearadvocate.com

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 02:30 (thirteen years ago)

I would like to ask the Patriots fans here to explain this.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 04:28 (thirteen years ago)

What's the easiest way to get to Allston and Deep Ellum from Cambridge?

calstars, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 11:54 (thirteen years ago)

66 bus from harvard square leaves you at deep ellum's front door basically

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 12:12 (thirteen years ago)

also the 64 from Central Square

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 14:27 (thirteen years ago)

64 only runs like once an hour though, its the bane of my existence

ciderpress, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 15:42 (thirteen years ago)

honestly though Deep Ellum probably isn't cool enough to go thru the trouble of crossing the river when there's plenty of good spots in Cambridge

ciderpress, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 15:50 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i mean if calstars is looking for something closer he should go to cbc/lord hobo

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

Does Boston have a Japantown, Koreatown, or Chinatown? And if so where to go for beer there?

calstars, Friday, 13 July 2012 22:06 (thirteen years ago)

Does Boston have a Japantown, Koreatown, or Chinatown? And if so where to go for beer there?

Don't go to Chinatown for beer. Chinatown beer sux unless you like Tsingtao. Jacob Wirth is a German restaurant on the edge of Chinatown and the theater district and they have good German beer but aside from that all the beer places are nowhere near Chinatown.

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Saturday, 14 July 2012 00:54 (thirteen years ago)

Hi all, brewer from Boston Beer Works here (Canal St. location by the Garden/North Station). Maybe we're not hip like all the hip hipster places already listed, but I like to think we have great beer. So, yeah. Come drink some! Anyone, really!

epistantophus, Saturday, 14 July 2012 01:04 (thirteen years ago)

Wow hi! Glad to make your acquaintance.

What do ppl think of a Canal St BBW FAP?

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Saturday, 14 July 2012 01:06 (thirteen years ago)

man i've always wanted to go to your place before celtics/bruins games but you seem to fill up early

call all destroyer, Saturday, 14 July 2012 01:07 (thirteen years ago)

call all destroyer, Saturday, 14 July 2012 01:07 (thirteen years ago)

epi, tell us when you're around and we'll come say hi

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Saturday, 14 July 2012 01:24 (thirteen years ago)

Sounds great! We open at 11 and I'm usually around until 5 or 6 pm. But I can stay later, or come in on my day off, or whatever. Are we talking lunchtime, evening, weekend, or what? Whatever works, I'll be there!

epistantophus, Saturday, 14 July 2012 02:41 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, we do start to fill up a couple hours before Cs/Bs games, but there's always room for more people if you don't mind standing around being jostled a bit while you drink.

epistantophus, Saturday, 14 July 2012 02:45 (thirteen years ago)

Hey I am in Fla but back on mon. You guys around next weekend? When is calls tars here anyway? Let. Us do this shit.

(✿◠‿◠) (ENBB), Saturday, 14 July 2012 02:54 (thirteen years ago)

Next weekend probably works for me/us

I see you, Pineapple Teef (DJP), Saturday, 14 July 2012 02:56 (thirteen years ago)

Cool, I'll be there Friday and Sunday, off Saturday but could maybe pop in.

epistantophus, Saturday, 14 July 2012 03:17 (thirteen years ago)

next weekend sunday is not good but other days are

call all destroyer, Saturday, 14 July 2012 13:20 (thirteen years ago)

Oh yeah, if anyone's seen the Boston episode of Drinking Made Easy, my 5 minutes of fame was being on that show, back when I worked at the Fenway location.

epistantophus, Saturday, 14 July 2012 15:21 (thirteen years ago)

Anyone up for something this weekend?

epistantophus, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 23:08 (thirteen years ago)

PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 23:13 (thirteen years ago)

at least you will have beer!

epistantophus, Thursday, 26 July 2012 01:00 (thirteen years ago)

True! ^_^

PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Thursday, 26 July 2012 01:10 (thirteen years ago)

I'm away the next two weekends, but after that I'm scott free until September

baking (soda), Thursday, 26 July 2012 01:17 (thirteen years ago)

How about third weekend in August? Is that when you're back "soda"? You know we could also go CRAZY and do something mid-week. That said I am old and tired and generally prefer weekends too.
