The Dollars Trilogy: Order of favourite to least.

I did searches for "Clint Eastwood" and "Dollars trilogy", and saw threads like "Favourite Clint Eastwood movies" and "Spaghetti Westerns: Search and Destroy", but i didn't see any specifically about the Dollars trilogy.

For most of my adult life I always gave the knee-jerk answer The Good, The Bad and The Ugly as favourite. I absolutely love Eli Wallach as Tuco, and Clint and Van Cleef are great in their roles.

However, having just watched For a Few Dollars More again, I think it has taken first spot. As much as Lee Van Cleef is the perfect villain, I really like him as the honourable-Colonel-turned-bounty-killer. And the gun-play scene between Mortimer and Man With No Name is classic! I clearly remember seeing that scene when I was about 10 years old, imagining that I was one of the kids hiding under the porch for a front row seat of the action. I think I also like the fact that the entire thing is personal for Colonel Mortimer, it's not about the money.

So yeah, I think my order is now:

1) For a Few Dollars More
2) The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
3) A Fistful of Dollars

Hmmm, I thought there were four in the Dollars trilogy:

Give Me Back My Heart
Videotheque
Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour)
Hand Held In Black And White

They got progressively better, imo, tho the first certainly has a relatively 'simple' elegance.
