My mom lived there for a bit when she was young. No good memories, apparently.

my otherwise goodie-goodie cousin got arrested there cause his friend had shrooms in the car. it was during his dead head phase and they were driving to see the dead in new mexico. jerry kicked it soon after.

yuma is famous for being home to a large state prison. yuma high school's mascot is the CRIMINAL:

in 1999 when i took the greyhound home to san diego from tempe AZ for thanksgiving i happened to sit next to this dude who had just got outta prison that very day. 10 year sentence or something, he was happy as hell to sit there and look out the window and talk about what happened in the 90s. he got off in yuma and was gonna go work at his brothers taco stand WOOT

tacos are my favorite food

Yuma has the least average rainfall in the Western Hemisphere if I'm not mistaken.

While working on a compressor station in Ehrenberg AZ (just minutes from the beautifully named Blythe CA), I had to drive down forsaken Ogilby road several times a week to a remote substation. Which had no facilities, but was not terribly far from Yuma. To get to town, I drove down Center of the World Road, past Felicity, which, as a fringe of Yuma, was a plenty strange place in its own right.

I've driven from Tucson to San Diego several times, so all I see is the highway version of Yuma: some McDonalds, Motel 6s, hicks, and and an Air Force Base. So, totally inviting.
