These people are coming from Utrecht tomorrow to visit. I'm hoping to dump them in the art gallery and get back to work.

exhibitions were closing down, hence free entry. We wore slippers in the area demanding we do so.

can anyone recommend somewhere good to eat in utrecht? trying to avoid what i did last night which is have a canal's-worth of beer and gin and a small ham and cheese toasted sandwich, as i had a hangover the size of a house this morning, and thought I'd left my glasses in the cathedral area.

i can tell you that the much recommended olivier's cafe is... ok. the waterzooi was a bit lacking - it's something i make myself occasionally. i find the whole 1000s of belgian beers thing a bit dull, but they were ok. the apple tart tho was very good. and the cafe cat came and sat on my lap, which was excellent.

also, and this feels utterly wrong and not at all for me to say when the uk is so f'ing full of complete male arseholes, but once again i find myself thinking, as always with a bit of an element of surprise and uncertainty, that there's a reason 'boor' is originally a dutch word.
