London Boroughs - can't kill 'em, can't eat 'em.

Thought this might give an interesting spin on the Gareth/Marcello project, seeing as it's much less specific and people may be less inclined to vote for their locale if they've been stiffed on housing benefit/council tax/refuse collection/parking fines...

Some of them are small and some of them are big.

not sure how to vote on this, as it implies more than just locale, but, as you say, competence of the borough. i suspect people will still vote locale though

This one is easy, because I do actually love Lambeth.

Let's have a worst borough, Camden would win (lose?) by a country mile. Mainly on council tax and borough incompetence without even touching locale.

I think I'm going to vote for where I used to live rather than where I live now.

I can't get that excited about one particular borough to vote for it. Postcodes were a struggle as it is. Maybe I am not fit to be a Londoner.

It's a list of London Boroughs, Croydon is a London Borough regardless of whether or not it's in London. Ditto Sutton.

St Albans is 22 miles from London and Croydon is only 9 miles. I think, if you're that close, regardless of your own separate civic identity, you gravitationally accrete into the swirling mass of Londonness. Bromley too, though that trails bucketloads of dust out into deep space.

Croydon does include Upper Norwood - we are in Croydon borough, albeit about 100 yards from the boundry with Lambeth.

I would have been tempted to put Waltham Forest, as there are some really nice areas there, and I like their local museums, but as they're trying to pull a huge chunk of funding from the museums which is threatening the William Morris museum they ain't getting my vote.

Voted for Croydon - the only one I really know, and I'd imagine all the other boroughs' branches of WH Smiths are about as depressing.

(having lived more or less all my life in SW16 but still considering that to be part of Croydon, largely due to the quite-large "CROYDON" sign outside the dry-cleaners on Crown Point, I'd say that yes, it technically is part of London)

(you may have settled this several posts upthread, but it's not often that Croydon crops up here in a non-tram related context, so I feel well within my rights to milk it)

There is no project, PJM. I was struggling for the right word. Frippery, perhaps. In one take, like "Heroes".

Crown Point is the very northwestern corner of SE19; the Lambeth/Croydon boundary continues west for a few hundred yards down Crown Lane before spying Streatham Common rearing up in the distance and quite sensibly dipping away to the south. There's a fair chunk of SW16 in the Borough of Croydon - Pollards Hill, Norbury. Not Lonesome though, which is a shame.

Good things about Croydon:
1. Beano's record shop.
2. The other used record shop round the back of the Drummond except you have to pass all the winos to get there.
3. Has the only known branch of my building society which is actually open on a Saturday morning.

Even at its worst, Croydon is better than Sutton, which is the Romford of the south. Although Sutton does have Cheam, which means Hancock.
