If I have my dates right, Ned is posting roughly thrice as often on ILX2 as he did on ILX1. Clearly, the greater speed of ILX2 has allowed Ned's inner posting monster to come unleashed.
― libcrypt, Monday, 21 May 2007 05:26 (nineteen years ago)
I have my doubts. (Not least of which is that Dave Q hasn't been posting anywhere near those levels, though personally I'd love of it if he did.)
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 21 May 2007 05:30 (nineteen years ago)
nb: the only reason my name is here is because the admins went through and googleproofed my old name so that it read Curt1s St3ph3ns. So these numbers do not reflect my ILX2 posting at all (here I am posting as Curt1s Stephens)
― Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 21 May 2007 05:47 (nineteen years ago)
i think that's it's cumulative, for all 6+ years that ILX has been in existence.
― Eisbaer, Monday, 21 May 2007 05:56 (nineteen years ago)
It sort of baffles me how you can manage to post so much. I mean, not so much in regard to time, but in regard to amount of posts. Still: GOOD WORK YALL. ;-)
― nathalie, Monday, 21 May 2007 07:46 (nineteen years ago)
I am deeply sceptical with regard to my unprecedented top ten placing, unless it takes XStatic Peace, Denise Lambert, Phoebe Dinsmore etc. into account.
Those were(n't) the days...
― Marcello Carlin, Monday, 21 May 2007 08:08 (nineteen years ago)
There's no way in which these figures can possibly be correct.
― Matt DC, Monday, 21 May 2007 09:06 (nineteen years ago)
If it's cumulative, I'm pretty sure I've posted more than 7709 messages in my time, so where am I on the list. Ditto Stevem, Dan P, JW, N/Alba, KStC etc etc.
If it's for ILX2 - well Mark S and Dave Q have barely posted at all.
― Matt DC, Monday, 21 May 2007 09:09 (nineteen years ago)
YOU WUZ PHOEBE DISNMORE?
I thought it was Paul Morley!
― Mark G, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:28 (nineteen years ago)
No - Paul posted regularly under the pseudonym of "Comstock Carabinieri."
― Marcello Carlin, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:38 (nineteen years ago)
i don't know how this can work over the 6 years as we all have new IDs after the change to tomcat'd code??
― Alan, Monday, 21 May 2007 10:46 (nineteen years ago)
Maybe it's for the best it didn't combine all my pseudonyms. I'm jealous but want to remain in denial. ;-)
― nathalie, Monday, 21 May 2007 11:37 (nineteen years ago)
ned was top poster for ages on reg ilx
― roxymuzak, Monday, 21 May 2007 13:21 (nineteen years ago)
Way back when, I started a few midnight threads that would have sunk like unanswered stones except for the fact that I kept bumping them myself. I'd finally resort to summoning Ned by mentioning his name and invariably he'd pop up and post seconds later.

He's an AI program.

his legacy
I will bequeath it to the aliens scavenging through the wreckage of this civilization.

"we came all this way for THIS?" "fine Kang, next time you can CHOOSE our holiday"
― blueski, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:13 (nineteen years ago)
wait why is 'choose' in uppercase? whole thing ruined.
And so, using their advanced technology, the data they had gathered and the information gleaned from reading his brain, the visitors were able to provide young Ned with his long sought after new MBV album, if only for one day.

not really -- "Ned Raggett" registers differently from "Ned Raggett (Ned)," for instance.
― Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:25 (nineteen years ago)
I presume libcrypt was just searching for the top names that did not have parentheses
― Curt1s Stephens, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:26 (nineteen years ago)
"Ned Raggett" registers differently from "Ned Raggett (Ned)," for instance.
Conceptually, this makes my head hurt.
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:29 (nineteen years ago)
I just picked out names from the top posters list that didn't have parenthetical IDs next to them, which indicates that they're ILX2 nicks, not ILX1. They shouldn't be cumulative unless there are special circumstances, like in Curt1s's case.
― libcrypt, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:32 (nineteen years ago)
Ned Raggett (Ned) was the one with the blue tie.
― onimo, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:33 (nineteen years ago)
No libcrypt, it doesn't work. I haven't posted under "Tom" since ILX2 started, though I have registered it. (And even as Groke, I've not posted 11000 times!)
― Groke, Monday, 21 May 2007 14:34 (nineteen years ago)
Ned Raggett (Ned) was the one with the blue tie
This I can actually buy.

I just picked out names from the top posters list that didn't have parenthetical IDs next to them, which indicates that they're ILX2 nicks, not ILX1. Ah. There are loads of ILX1 nicks that have nothing in brackets -- the brackets are the login name, and for about 4 years you didn't have to log in to post.

Well, that explains that.

that reminds me. hats off to the posters who said they would never use ILX if you had to log in and are indeed no longer posting.
