The patriotic duty of Merkins on this day involves a Weber kettle and a bunch of steak.

My day: recuperating from this. Further celebrations unneeded.

I think I'm going to run some incredibly mundane errands.

I wasn't going to do anything special foodwise, but Tep's idea of adding ground bacon to the beef for hamburgers won't get out of my head, so I just got back from the store with ingredients.

Listening to the Psychedelic Furs' "Dumb Waiters" while getting ready to leave for a BBQ. I only got really drunk Friday night, but I hope to compensate tonight. Good friends help.

Man, these were AMAZING.

i ate a burger, two brats, potato salad, fresh grainger county tomatoes (greenhouse-grown but still totally freakin delicious), cole slaw, green salad, and two thick slices of ham

then i CANOED on chilhowee lake and up abrams creek until it got too shallow, then put the canoes back on the roof of the car and got home just as the rain mercifully poured down over the parched tennessee hills
