My guys talk in their sleep.

"Only five point six people are interested in that. If you think about it, that's not that many people." - SS

"Ha ha! It's a hair heater header system!" - RS

"Tragic, really, isn't it?" - SS

"Check over there in that closet." - SS

Any of you hear the great Dion McGregor albums? Now that guy could talk in his sleep!

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 06:48 (nineteen years ago)

"Don't have to be forever. I mean forever, yeah. The idea of it."

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 06:55 (nineteen years ago)

its the Maria threads like this that really put scott in 1st place.

Why you pulling an alnighter? My husband mainly snores. I clickeedeeclack in my sleep. :-)

nathalie, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 07:10 (nineteen years ago)

you tap dance?

StanM, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 07:12 (nineteen years ago)

i have a Dutch deadline, translating about verkeersmanagement for rijkswaterstaat (actually for a translation agency). we're moving and having to take care of all kinds of stuff, so of course i didn't get enough work done today (or is it yesterday now?), despite translating 5,000 words the day before that to catch up.

no tap

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 07:15 (nineteen years ago)

"Where'd the shovel go to?" (or "Where'd you show that to?" - couldn't quite make it out)

and

"oh get that off my face"

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 07:50 (nineteen years ago)

(my "you tap dance?" was about nathalie's "I clickeedeeclack in my sleep." btw)

StanM, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:04 (nineteen years ago)

"yeaah, get out of here. i can't really... ok i'm going to kill it"

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:14 (nineteen years ago)

"ka kee kew kew ka keee kew kew" (and some hand-waving)

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

i should tap dance to wake up -- just another 900 words to go.....

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:15 (nineteen years ago)

"alright, can we have cake? i've got the wheelbarrow"

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:22 (nineteen years ago)

"be careful it could crush me. don't crush me. don't put it on my head. put it over there."

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:37 (nineteen years ago)

Scott #1 forever - he rules, even in his sleep!

StanM, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:40 (nineteen years ago)

Stan, nah, I make this weird clicking noise (with my troath/tongue). :-(

stevienixed, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:50 (nineteen years ago)

my sister does that

Maria :D, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 08:50 (nineteen years ago)

omg amazing sleep talk thread

i talk in my sleep but have tended to go out with heavy sleepers (i guess the talking happen in the middle of the night mostly), but i have had things reported to me and they have all been either v v weird nonsense or totally mundane (uh, phew)

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:08 (nineteen years ago)

lol 5.6 people

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

"alright, can we have cake? i've got the wheelbarrow"
that's a lot of cake!!

haitch, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:29 (nineteen years ago)

I talk in my sleep, mostly just random sounds but sometimes actual words. Gem from the other night: "Well, 200 pounds later..."

jessie monster, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

"Ha ha! It's a hair heater header system!" - RS

Nice alliteration there. Also, you should look into patenting this system, it sounds both warm and highly efficient.

moley, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

My ex boyfriend once sleep shouted, "Don't touch my pubic hair." I wasn't touching him at all at the time. It was very concerning.

ENBB, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 22:15 (nineteen years ago)

Huh, that really isn't that many people.

Jordan, Wednesday, 30 May 2007 22:17 (nineteen years ago)

my roommate freshman year of college woke me up by shouting "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" in his sleep once. I didn't go back to sleep for a little while after that.

Jeff Treppel, Thursday, 31 May 2007 00:49 (nineteen years ago)

hey I'm pullin' an all-nighter too! actually a whole week of them (ROCK ON SLACKING OFF FOR THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT AND THEN GETTING EVERYTHING IN ORDER DURING THE LAST WEEK BEFORE YOU QUIT)

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 00:53 (nineteen years ago)

nobody is saying anything interesting here, but the radio is playing that jock jams song

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 00:57 (nineteen years ago)

now playing: kool & the gang - "get down on it"

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 01:07 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks to my Mom documenting my sleep-talking from when I was young, I am aware that my greatest hit was "Look, kitty, the flying dumptruck!"

I have no idea.

John Justen, Thursday, 31 May 2007 01:17 (nineteen years ago)

eiffel 65 - "blue"

liveblogging the radio: classic or dud?

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 04:47 (nineteen years ago)

dud, unless it's sleepblogging

river wolf, Thursday, 31 May 2007 04:48 (nineteen years ago)

I don't recognize this song right now but I don't think I like it. they keep saying "move your love" so maybe that's what it's called?

what the fuck woudl sleepblogging entail

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 04:51 (nineteen years ago)

hey it's gonna be an all-nighter here too. trying to fart out a longish paper based on a fifteen minute interview that doesn't exist anymore because the tape is fucked. the drunker i get, the more i make up!

strgn, Thursday, 31 May 2007 04:58 (nineteen years ago)

strgn is it okay if I call you stargun

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 04:59 (nineteen years ago)

please

strgn, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:01 (nineteen years ago)

previous: "never gonna get it"
current: "like a prayer"

a recent duke grad told me that "like a prayer" is sort of a big deal for them. like, they play it at the end of all their parties and shit. is this a universal college student thing or just some weird duke tradition? is this my shared cultural currency? do I have to have an opinion about it? I like the parts where it sounds big and dramatic but I hate those first couple rinky-dink choruses

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:11 (nineteen years ago)

i don't know. i am even at a college. i can't even remember what song 'like a prayer' is, although i think it's madonna right. i'm gay and i've never heard any madonna.

i'm kind of jealous about 'never gonna get it' though. need some en vogue on the ipod

right now i'm listening to 'i need somebody to love' by sylvester. it's mellow and hazy. i like it.

strgn, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:16 (nineteen years ago)

mmm beer run

strgn, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:17 (nineteen years ago)

right now it's "don't stop 'til you get enough", which is far from my favorite jacko tracko, but something about that string part always makes me really nostalgic. I feel like it was used in some TV commercial when I was a kid or something.

"like a prayer" is madonna, yeah, but I had never even heard it until fairly recently. like, last year. it's good, the verses have this really dramatic organ and then the last chorus has a gospel choir, it's nice and fun. but it doesn't really go anywhere for the first couple minutes, which is a bummer. bad move, madge.

I am jealous of beer run. we may still have some leftover beer in the office fridge but SOMEBODY lost the spare office key we normally keep around + I am pretty sure underage drinking at work is frowned upon

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:22 (nineteen years ago)

One thing I've been puzzling over throughout this thread - does Maria actually have two guys? If so - hails!

moley, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:25 (nineteen years ago)

OH SHIT, NEXT - "TOO CLOSE" ALERT!

I tried to explain the existence of this song to my little sister; I think she thought I was very weird

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:32 (nineteen years ago)

now "Kung Fu Fighting"!!! late-night DJs, I am not worthy!

(I realize there is probably a computer picking out these tracks at random, but I prefer to dream)

bernard snowy, Thursday, 31 May 2007 05:35 (nineteen years ago)

moley: she collects Sewards and has several of them already.

StanM, Thursday, 31 May 2007 06:25 (nineteen years ago)

three years pass...

How does one pull a (somewhat) healthy all-nighter? I'm not under the gun (yet), I just feel like staying up working tonight. I realize that you can't really get away without sleeping and NOT feel like shit. I might sleep in the day tomorrow instead?

perfectamente borracho (admrl), Friday, 13 August 2010 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

Drinking a lot of water helps. Tea instead of coffee if you have to have caffeine (i think it's better for more sustained wakefulness but that might be superstition - all i know is, drinking tea i'm more likely to suddenly look around and realise it's 3am). I usually eat an apple or two too, if flagging and hungry. I really like the feeling once you're over the initial bedtime tiredness, when things suddenly feel calm and clear, but you suspect you're actually a little clumsier. It's bad for you in the long run and all, but sometimes it just feels really good.

I've tended to try and power through as much of the next day as possible, and then make sure i get an early night the next night - about 11am the next day I feel saggy-faced and blotchy and grainy-eyed but not capable of sleep, and am good for nothing, but it clears up again after an hour or so into finding vague hilarity in everything.

So, basically: water.

bodily fuiuds (c sharp major), Friday, 13 August 2010 01:12 (fifteen years ago)

OK. I just like working late. I'm not working/doing anything tomorrow, so that should be ok.

perfectamente borracho (admrl), Friday, 13 August 2010 01:13 (fifteen years ago)

don't spend all night sitting down. get an early breakfast and take a walk.

elan, Friday, 13 August 2010 04:51 (fifteen years ago)
