Recommend me a good magazine for a friend's gift subscription

We forgot that my sister-in-law's birthday is tomorrow, so we're getting her a magazine subscription because 1. it can arrive late acceptably and 2. she loves magazines, fortunately. Not sure which one to get her, though – Harper's is the only one I know and dig, and I'm pretty sure it's not up her alley.

So here are her interests:

- Gardening (organic and otherwise)
- Crafts & such but not knitting or other yarn-related activities
- Cooking
- Home decor (but her sister has like 5 decorating mag back-issue piles so she will probably just want to borrow those)

Preferably a U.S. magazine under $30/year. Any leads, my fellow ILX readers?

Cook's Illustrated!!! Oh wait but that's not $30.

How much is Cooks Illustrated?

Maybe it is $30! It's only bimonthly, but it's really, really good.
