I assume, seeing as the game is over, that it's ok to post here now. Ummm I think in Australia people (who don't own property in particular) disapprove because the market distortion sheeted directly to CGT incentives (I forget exactly what it is... halved on sale of investment properties held for more than 12 months or something?) impacts negatively on the poorer demographic, inflating property prices and restricting the portion of the population. So that's not actually a criticism of CGT itself, but rather how it has been manipulated under the current govt to help the rich, thus widening the gap between rich and poor further? That probably makes no sense, sorry...
