Does a tiger feel pity for the Deer it intends to rip apart and eat?

i think i saw something on tv about some predator (lion i think) that killed a female prey then proceeded to take tender care of the orphaned kids?

I remember a relatively recent hour on a young lioness who'd lost her pride and "adopted" an unweened wildebeest, started off like OH SO CUET but the relationship was ambiguous and they both ended up starving to death - worst Animal Planet bait'n'switch ever.

Or like some bigger lion came around and ate the wildebeest and lioness was too starved to argue. It was really horrible. But probably would have made a fine Beckett play.

can feel for a mouse in an attenborough clip if he appears as a mouse doing mouse stuff before a predator catches him and does some predator stuff
if the clip is about a hawk doing hawk stuff and he catches a mouse then it's like big deal gotta eat right?
Quest for narrative or s/thing, i guess
