If a good friend was to come to you and say that he/she was in love and seriously considering marriage, but his/her significant other was of a different religious faith, then what advice would you give him/her and why?

To clarify, I'm asking more so about two religious people of different faiths, as opposed to one person being religious and the other not being religious. If that helps.

Incompatibility in matters of religion can be a real and serious problem in a marriage, but because pretty much all the major faiths take in such a broad range of traditions, approaches, emphases and beliefs, you can't tell much from a simple identifier, like catholic or jewish. Those labels could, as they say, cover a multitude of sins.
I would tell them that they need to talk to each other deeply about their personal version of religious faith, what it means to them, and what they would expect the other to accept as indispensible to them in the future. Especially if they have kids, all this will need to be hashed out until they are both comfortable with a shared position.

If you love someone and really believe in a religion (and I mean really believe, don't just go along with it cos you don't have the balls to do otherwise) then you have to save them.
There are two ifs there.
