Went for the Europop act, those dudes had some fucking bangers in their career.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 22 October 2007 12:39 (eighteen years ago)

Author Hank Bordowitz called "Captain Jack" "as bleak a portrait of growing up in the affluent suburbs as anything before L.A. punk hit nearly a decade later".[5]

Dom Passantino, Monday, 22 October 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

I went with heroin. Gotta stick to the Method.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:21 (eighteen years ago)

El Tomboto, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:26 (eighteen years ago)

Noodle Vague, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

Kill the Alligator And Run = worst episode ever.
Official!

A friend's boyfriend will frequently launch into a rant about how punk rock Billy Joel is. I don't know if he's cited this to back up his claim or not but I'll have to let him know.

joygoat, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:32 (eighteen years ago)

The Modoc guy sounds pretty cool too.

Noodle Vague, Monday, 22 October 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

Wait, is the Europop one listed here the people who did the "all the hoochie mamas put ya hands up" thing?

Jon Lewis, Monday, 22 October 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

I have yet to destroy Billy Joel...someday, though, Mr. Joel....

lol Torchwood

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:08 (eighteen years ago)

he was more fun on dr. who when he was more of a poor man's brendan fraser.

BBCA has become my "last channel" fix for the NFL season.

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:19 (eighteen years ago)

i got really into torchwood

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

Torchwood is good but not because of Captain Jack; really in spite of him.

Tosh = my TV girlfriend btw

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:25 (eighteen years ago)

That one...I think season finale of last Dr. Who, he's all DIRTY and chained up in a moodily lit steamy deck, and they're all tryin'a destroy him and then they discover he can't die, god, that is almost camp it's so homoerotic. So: awesome.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

You should read Russell T. Davies' Doctor Who book Damaged Goods, where he has the Doctor's male companion (a by-the-book police officer from the 30th century) decide to fuck one of the guys he meets IN THE MIDDLE OF A STAKEOUT. This exchange of fluids later leads to a cure for AIDS.

I am not making this up.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:29 (eighteen years ago)

^^^ I can guarantee this

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:32 (eighteen years ago)

OMG WANT! The Master pushing him around all sassy singing "I don't know whether to kiss you or kill you" (IIRC) was charged w/the same dom silliness but less beefcake.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

I want to read this book upon which all 30th century policemen are based.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:34 (eighteen years ago)

whoever that evil bodysnatcher was that loved up toshiko last week and was handing out mind-reading pendants, I would hit that

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

david tennant is not as fun as eccleston and rose is wearing thin though

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:35 (eighteen years ago)

Hold on for season 3, Tom! Tennant gets much much better and Martha >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rose.

Also, "Blink"!

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:36 (eighteen years ago)

("42" is also awesome.)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:37 (eighteen years ago)

Also, "Blink"!

Best Doctor Who episode in history. I am having apoplexy just thinking about it.

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:39 (eighteen years ago)

i'm not gonna make that claim but yes blink was scary and really great

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:41 (eighteen years ago)

All right, Genesis of the Daleks then. But Blink has universal appeal. You can sit a sci-fi neophyte in front of it and they'll enjoy it as much as any nerd.

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

totally
i'm just glad i'm not a kid watching it - talk abt scaring for life

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:47 (eighteen years ago)

which is obv an important part of childhood though
i mean my 'poltergeist' scaring is prob essential to who i am now

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 00:48 (eighteen years ago)

"Blink" is better than "Genesis of the Daleks".

I think the best original-Who story I've seen to date is either "The Mind Robber" or "The Pirate Planet".

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

i love 'the pirate planet'!
(have not seen 'the mind robber')

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

Mind Robber is a nice idea. A lot of the Troughtony ones were built upon nice ideas.

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

The Pirate Planet is fucking exquisite
I just netflixed that shit like two or three weeks ago

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 02:55 (eighteen years ago)

you guys Doctor Who episodes including Pirate Planet are available on Netflix instant watch.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

I totally watched half of it really drunk the other week.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

ok wait there is netflix Instant Watch? like instant?

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

Not on Macs tho. :( At least last time I checked. What a crippling disease this thing can be.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

yes! you need windows, tho. you get 1 hour for every dollar you pay per month. it rules! xp.

I installed windows on my mac purely for instant watch, the gre study software, and the two days I was thinking about buying guild wars.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

eesh
i have pc also but the mac is taking over
i bet it's not in canada either

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

the Mac's circa...'01 or '02 or maybe even '03 but still no-go-diggy-die w/the Windows. Oil well.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:12 (eighteen years ago)

if you lived anywhere near me you could totally come watch instant watch at my house, abbott.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:13 (eighteen years ago)

Aw well thx. ^_^

The man has a windows BUT e also practically has his laptop growing out of him ala the gun in Videodrome. I mean, I would feel bad asking for two hours to watch "The Wiz" or whatever while he could be making very important photoshops.

Abbott, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

My other half calls it 'the appendage'

Autumn Almanac, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 03:23 (eighteen years ago)

The Key to Time is probably my all-around favorite season of Doctor Who, with the preceeding Leela season and the final Davison season tied for a close second.

HI DERE, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

Season 21 a very good one, yes, but does contain The Twin Dilemma.

Season 5 might well be my favourite (mid-Pat with Tomb, the two Yeti stories, first Ice Warriors, Enemy of the World, Fury and the first Zoe). Other good ones are Season 6 (all Zoe, Invasion, War Games, Mind Robber), Season 7 (Liz Shaw), Season 10 (final Jo) and Season 13/14 (Hinchcliffe and Holmes Go Mental).

aldo, Wednesday, 24 October 2007 14:29 (eighteen years ago)

Key to Time for me. I also (impossibly) loved the whole Trial business.
