I remember reading a profile of Angel in MAGIC Magazine a few years back when his career was just gathering steam. They talked about how he brought the "gritty, street sensibility" of Blaine to the Vegas environment, and that it seemed like a much more sensible model.
It's been sad watching Blaine's oblivious slide into irrelevance. Wasn't his last "special" on the Discovery Channel or something?
