Go stock up or at least get a raincheck. They're normally $18! Plus it is the beer of choice of House M. D.

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

carne asada, Monday, 22 October 2007 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

Albertson's/Jewel/Osco/Sav-On

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:09 (eighteen years ago)

The nicest Albertson's is in Jackson Hole, Wyo., with the Boise "first Albertson's" at a close second.

Abbott, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

:(

river wolf, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

chaki, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

Crazy about food.

Lingbert, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

there used to be an albertson's on fulton and masonic but it recently was sold to another company (i forget name).

Steve Shasta, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:20 (eighteen years ago)

my mom claims every Albertson's smells like dried cow blood but that's not going to stop me

jergïns, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

i am going to check the jewel in like 15 minutes

river wolf, Monday, 22 October 2007 22:37 (eighteen years ago)

Oh shit, when Gear said "Jewel" upthread I thought he meant the singer! And I was like, within 10 posts this thread's gonna be all "Grolsch on t's".

Jon Lewis, Monday, 22 October 2007 23:05 (eighteen years ago)

*not available in all areas
*call before driving across town
*might be $17.99 at your local albertson's and you'll have to stifle tears

jergïns, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 00:43 (eighteen years ago)

Oh man I'm so sorry.

Abbott, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 00:45 (eighteen years ago)

it's cool. i spent the $20 on other necessities

jergïns, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 00:46 (eighteen years ago)

Are these the five litre kegs? Or uh, a fifth of a hogshead or whatever you use for measurin'?

S-, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 01:07 (eighteen years ago)

NOT AT JEWEL, BTW

gbx, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 01:32 (eighteen years ago)

The 5 liter kegs. Hogshead is one of the best units of measurement though, along with the mole, the log, and the hectare.

Abbott, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 02:00 (eighteen years ago)

Hectare makes more sense than an acre... Anyway, that is a great price. Never under $35 here, and usually over $40 for those.

S-, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 02:16 (eighteen years ago)

there used to be an albertson's on fulton and masonic but it recently was sold to another company (i forget name).

That's my Lucky's. It's actually the same parent company.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 02:31 (eighteen years ago)

lucky disappeared from la when albertson's bought it. never a very good store, but i loved the name. albertson's is a fucking pit, much worse. and all the sav-on's which were part of lucky are converting to CVS.

grolsch is kinda whatever but that price is hard to beat.

gershy, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 03:19 (eighteen years ago)

lucky disappeared from la when albertson's bought it.

They are reverting some of the Albertson's to Lucky's, 'cause they decided that the latter name had more grocery-cachet or something in certain areas.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 04:08 (eighteen years ago)

The other day at Lucky's they had a sale on corn -- 8 for a buck, maybe -- and there were about 10 asian folks going through the entire bucket of sale corn, partially shucking the ears, and tossing the good ones into baskets, on the way covering the floor with corn husks. Kinda bizarre, but this must be the new winning Lucky strategy.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 04:41 (eighteen years ago)

After 1st visit to An Albertson's (we didn't have 'em back east)--

Me (food snob): What's up with Albertson's? There's nothing to buy in there.

New Boss (wry ex-hippie dude): Albertson's is for people with no self respect.
