Ste, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 15:41 (eighteen years ago)

There's a famous historical case from the 18th or 17th century, where two woman pretended to be men and became pirates, and also were assumedly a couple. I can't remember their names though.

Jack and Diane, two teenage lesbians, meet in New York City and spend the night kissing ferociously. Diane's charming innocence quickly begins to open Jack's tough skinned heart. But, when Jack discovers that Diane is leaving the country in a week she tries to push her away. Diane must struggle to keep their love alive while hiding the secret that her newly awakened sexual desire occasionally turns her into a werewolf.

Why do lesbians young people in general at fancy dress parties, rallies etc so often dress up as pirates?

Because they harbour a lethal combination of 'kookiness' and lack of imagination.

That would be Anne Bonny and Mary Read.

i went to a halloween party last week w/a lesbian friend and she was dressed as a pirate

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:21 (eighteen years ago)

CIO everyone dressing as a pirate!

I want to theme a party with the letter P and then bar anyone who turns up in a pirate outfit. :D

Just got offed, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

pirates are timeless imho

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:26 (eighteen years ago)

huh, well when you're surrounded by students who all think dressing up (and talking) like a pirate is rad, it quickly loses its appeal

Just got offed, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:27 (eighteen years ago)

yah but what if they did it 24/7 - then that would be kinda awesome right

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

at the party store there was a whole isle of pirate costume stuff

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:28 (eighteen years ago)

yes, if the pirate thing was no longer a lame, hackneyed fashion-statement but a genuine way of life, i agree that that would be awesome. again, though, only if like 1 or 2 of my friends did it. if it was everyone, then it would become boring v. quickly

Just got offed, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:30 (eighteen years ago)

the entirety of my friend's pirate costume was a sword and the soul patch section of a pirates of the caribbean goatee/ mustache kit

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

and she was talking in an indian accent most of the nite

jhøshea, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:40 (eighteen years ago)

I'm not making this up!

I've been to quite a few lesbian-centric gigs and nights and seen it loads. I even went to a ladyfest a few years ago and there was a pirate dress up workshop.

mei, Tuesday, 23 October 2007 16:41 (eighteen years ago)
