chaki, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:16 (eighteen years ago)

Nope. We do absolutely nothing in this office that would ever acknowledge the existence of outside lives.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

there was a pumpkin and some sweets in reception earlier, then there were bits of pumpkin in the kitchen later. i might investigate where the rest of the pumpkin has gone.

emsk, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:26 (eighteen years ago)

My supervisor Adrienne is a punk rocker with lip piercing and everything.
She's got a battery powered wig that glows, too. Halloween staff party with plenty of goodies coming up.

Trip Maker, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:27 (eighteen years ago)

dude in my spanish class was dressed in a kids-size spiderman costume. might have been some frat hazing thing. didn't leave, uh, much to the imagination under the belt.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:30 (eighteen years ago)

i wanted to dress up today but i went to a haloween party as this kid we know that just dresses horribly so if i went around campus dressed horribly i would just look like a horribly dressed person on haloween rather than a horribly dressed person for haloween.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:31 (eighteen years ago)

where are you emsk? im trying to work out what kind of american says "sweets" or, alternatively, what kind of non-american works in an office that celebrates halloween

sunny successor, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

i am just wearing a t-shirt with a big green skull on it. i didn't have the time, energy, money, or inclination to go through with my planned costume (queen of hearts from alice's adventures in wonderland). i'll save my effort for a year when halloween actually falls on a weekend.

elmo argonaut, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

i'm in london! i have never been an american. i am a welsh but in england. (this office celebrates everything. it is ace.)

emsk, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 18:49 (eighteen years ago)

we just had the costume contest and Tapatio man won!!

chaki, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

When I went to the store earlier I think the cashier was supposed to be a wolfman but he looked more like a blackface sasquatch.

nickalicious, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

i must say Tapatio man was genius. i wish i could show you guys.

chaki, Wednesday, 31 October 2007 23:14 (eighteen years ago)

I dressed up in full Goth regalia, courtesy of my own wardrobe. I don't get to rock it as much now that I'm a 'grownup', so it's kind of fun to weird out my super straight coworkers. My friends and family back home would just roll their eyes, but these folks barely know me, so it's lots of fun. And I'm having an EXCELLENT hair day!

VegemiteGrrrl, Thursday, 1 November 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

only person in my office that dressed up was our house manager who came as robin hood (i think that's who he was, at least).

tehresa, Thursday, 1 November 2007 03:33 (eighteen years ago)

omg your boss is that peter pan dude!

One of the costume contest winners at the gig I played last night was just a dude in drag, at least, that's what we thought; but during the contest he lifted his skirt and manginaed everyone. He won.

nickalicious, Thursday, 1 November 2007 17:59 (eighteen years ago)

i had no idea "mangina" was a verb, much less a transitive verb. jesus.

elmo argonaut, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:01 (eighteen years ago)

One of my co-workers was wearing a suit yesterday (highly uncommon in our office), and people kept asking what he was dressed as. Turns out he had a funeral to go to. :(

lindseykai, Friday, 2 November 2007 00:59 (eighteen years ago)

two years pass...

Office parade was won by two gals playing the Kardashian sisters (?). I've never seen them, loathing 'reality' as I do, but they seemed genuine. I voted for the Mother of Rosemary's Baby, pushing a carriage with Mia Farrow's haircut too!

Anyone sees any JetBlue Slaters this year, ring in.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Friday, 29 October 2010 21:47 (fifteen years ago)

The carriage had Mia Farrow's haircut?

Lady Gaga costumes automatically disqualified, right?

"I am a fairly respected poster." (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 29 October 2010 21:50 (fifteen years ago)

we just had the costume contest and Tapatio man won!!

this guy's name is actually Steve Tapatio. tah-pah-SHEE-oh. almost rhymes with "pistachio", but not.

one year passes...

Dud.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

Unless maybe certain offices have a huge party or something but it's weird when there's nothing going on and adults just show up in costume.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

LOL.. I vote Classic - 4 of my coworkers dressed as one girl, we'll call her Y, and Y dressed as me. Here are two Ys and 'me':

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

I don't get it. It's not even a costume, but a fuschia cowboy hat.

pplains, Monday, 31 October 2011 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

OK but that's like a bunch of people deciding to do something together. There's nothing like that here and two people showed up in full on costumes. That's a bit . . . weird.

Juggy Brottleteen (ENBB), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:19 (fourteen years ago)

We NAILED each other's costumes, btw. Ours were planned, but she didn't know I secretly recruited three other girls to dress as her as well. Here are the two of us on another day (my hair has since been cut to about the length of the wig she bought)

xp And how are things in the Oval Office?

asked Dermot O'Leary, but he couldn't help me either. They call me the (snoball), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:20 (fourteen years ago)

Haha, well yeah I don't think I would have had the guts to just show up in a solo costume.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Monday, 31 October 2011 18:21 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i like totally forgot that today was actually halloween so when i showed up and saw our receptionsist dressed in full costume/make up i was like o___O

but it's cool idk it doesn't bother me, but it's a bit too much effort to put into work

J0rdan S., Monday, 31 October 2011 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

I think it depends on your workplace

I gave a lecture in a costume today to my college students

no regrets

the tune is space, Monday, 31 October 2011 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

i'm dressed as a witch today. had a preschool party. little kids in store-bought costumes warm my heart.

Virginia Plain, Monday, 31 October 2011 22:05 (fourteen years ago)

Costumes are mandatory in our office on Halloween. If you don't come dressed up, you have to wear some crappy costume our CEO has on hand. Kind of an annoying policy, but this year I had a great idea. I went to high school with one of our graphic designers, who was a jam band kid at the time. So I went as "Tim circa 1996"--Phish t-shirt, hemp necklaces, white boy afro, sandals--and won the grand prize in the costume contest: a skull-shaped bottle of vodka. Woo!
