no the deal was that bobby moynihan has been wearing a "little fockers" shirt all week and refused to change out of it for the broadcast

some dude, Sunday, 5 December 2010 05:30 (thirteen years ago) link

haha doing a blizzard man sketch with diddy that refers to him as "a hip hop hermit" makes me feel like this is a jay electronica parody

some dude, Sunday, 5 December 2010 05:32 (thirteen years ago) link

I can't even watch DeNiro. I had to hide under a blanket. :(

congratulations (n/a), Sunday, 5 December 2010 05:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Just a semi-obvious question: is Jay Pharoah ever going to be in a sketch where he's not doing an impression? Is he just not funny otherwise?

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 December 2010 06:00 (thirteen years ago) link

he's nu hammond, im gonna guess no

glengarry rick ross: "always be stunting" (m bison), Sunday, 5 December 2010 06:03 (thirteen years ago) link

he was very not funny on letterman recently. like even the stuff his characters said was dull not to mention him as himself.

rent, Sunday, 5 December 2010 06:46 (thirteen years ago) link

the more i think about, the fatal flaw of the fake Kardashians is that they shy away from the easy joke of having a male cast member play Khloe

some dude, Sunday, 5 December 2010 13:27 (thirteen years ago) link

(Khloe is the only one I think is halfway hot)

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 5 December 2010 13:32 (thirteen years ago) link

I admit that I haven't been following Diddy at all lately, but is all of his new stuff as obviously Kanye-biting as the first song he played? I mean not just musically, his awkward dancing, his set-up, everything just screamed "I really really want to be Kanye" right now.

one pretty obvious guy in the obvious (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Sunday, 5 December 2010 23:48 (thirteen years ago) link

i think even now Kanye is more of a wannabe Diddy than vice versa, although there is obviously some influence flowing in both directions. bear in mind Press Play and "Last Night" predated 808s & Heartbreak.

ITT Deadliest Choads (some dude), Monday, 6 December 2010 00:24 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, I have Press Play. I haven't listened to it in forever, but I don't remember a whole lot that would directly tie into 808s though. It was just funny because two minutes into his first song, before I had even said anything, my wife goes, "I thought Kanye already performed this season" very sarcastically, so it wasn't just me.

The only thing I think of when I see those Vogelcheck sketches is "everybody's going to be sick tomorrow".

the only thing i think is "this isn't very funny, is it?"

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 12 December 2010 05:53 (thirteen years ago) link

from far away it did look like the indigo girls were on t.v.

scott seward, Sunday, 12 December 2010 05:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Okay, McCartney doing Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" was a nice twist, but "A Day in the Life" sounded absolutely awful.

Lightning Is For Babies (Johnny Fever), Sunday, 12 December 2010 05:57 (thirteen years ago) link

Not to sound like a cynic, but that is the one solo Lennon song Paul gets royalties for.

They've been his recording/touring band for like ten years now. They're all seasoned session dudes, drummer is the son of some well-used studio bassist, keyboard player has played with everyone in the world, etc.

Tub Girl Time Machine (Phil D.), Sunday, 12 December 2010 13:46 (thirteen years ago) link

Also, I believe blonde guitar dude was cloned from the sweat on one of Steven Tyler's scarves.

Tub Girl Time Machine (Phil D.), Sunday, 12 December 2010 13:53 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah his facelifted guitar player is terrible

been a while since I've seen anyone get three musical spots on the show, but it's been a while since I've watched a full SNL. I am one who thinks the only times the show has been completely funny were the eddie murphy years/the crystal short eberson years and the early dana carvey years and everything since has been really spotty, but I thought this episode was pretty good, better than others I've watched (I think this is the first one this season i've watched though). the cast seems better.

akm, Sunday, 12 December 2010 14:55 (thirteen years ago) link

also I thought mccartney sounded alright, I mean he is 100 years old and this was pretty raw, I'm sure some sweetening goes on during his stadium shows.

akm, Sunday, 12 December 2010 14:57 (thirteen years ago) link

he'd been better off doing just christmas songs

i have been otm (bnw), Sunday, 12 December 2010 14:59 (thirteen years ago) link

Shut your fugging mouth if your wish really is to hear more "Wonderfcul Christmastime" on network television.

http://tinyurl.com/ccccccccccccccccc (Pleasant Plains), Sunday, 12 December 2010 15:39 (thirteen years ago) link

xps He actually got FOUR, which I think is the first time that's ever happened. Both U2 and Phoenix have gotten three performances in the last decade.
