I just see Fey as more powerful in the biz than JL-D, I mean, Seinfeld doesn't seem to help Richards or Alexander, really.

been waiting for kate m to finally look as comfortable on SNL as she did at UCB and this week definitely suggested she's turning that corner.

put me in with the "enjoyed muse" crowd, i don't need much of their music but I'm all for a band that suggests what radiohead would be like if they were more shamelessly prog - emphasis on "shamelessly"

call me a rockist but when i saw that dude's dubstep double guitar i was in love

may have loved the singer's dramatic yelps on song 2 even more

Man, do I feel badly for Aidy Bryant. Not a single appearance this week (unless you count .5 seconds of distress face during the goodbyes). It was rad of Lorne & Co. to hire her, but I was thinking at the time I heard the news that they wouldn't know what to do with her (or, worse, that they'd simply avoid doing anything with her) and that seems to be panning out. All of the other featured players have gotten fairly extensive airtime. I hope it doesn't take some 'Me want food!'-esque sketch for her to get a little recognition.

P.S. Christina Applegate was a really winning host but, aside from the debate sketch, that was a pretty meh episode.

I loved the Odysseus & The Sirens sketch, which won't make it online because of the music. There is a pretty good compilation of sketches over the past years that have fallen the same fate.

Just caught the episode and it was pretty lukewarm, but I thought the Tech Talk sketch was amazing. Also, I love Jean K Jean. ZUT ALORS!

the tech talk skit was super preachy in a not really creative way -- it's cool if you're going to make the point that they're making, but setting it under the guise of "a talk show" so that you can use the characters as mouthpieces means that you should actually just write a blog post

also the thing where they funnelled feminist viewpoints of the debate thru the character of arianna huffington was... bizarre

also wussup with the one woman who they hired to obviously be the sequel to kristen wiig? in back-to-back sketches she used that midwest mom accent and then danced and made funny faces at the camera while everyone else in the scene played it straight

Felt like Applegate was doing a straight Wiig impersonation in the Californians, but otoh I'm not sure what all can be done with that stock character.

oh shit was that her? ha, nevermind. i was on the phone when that skit came on so i was only paying half-attention. but yeah that was a bit blatant, wasn't it?

lol at jordan not knowing who christina applegate is or just now noticing snl going 'fuck it, fake talk show' when they have an idea but can't be bothered to go the extra mile and develop it. kate mckinnon has really established herself quick, her and taran killam are fantastic. episode was definitely meh though - only laughed at debate sketch which was a gimme but they nailed it, tech talk which was sloppy but funny enough in conception - kinda weird to hear nasim's sarcastic concern voice in triplicate though, and the californians which was probably the weakest one of those yet and definitely an idea that should be retired but i still laugh at hader and armisen every time. o and jean k jean was still great but i'm always up for comedy making fun of comedians - they could probably roll out a 'kings of catch phrase comedy' every two weeks and it'd take forever for me to complain.

tech talk was the worst. "how dare you criticize a company's products when they use cheap foreign labor"?

also everybody getting to pull out their finest chinese accents
