and what, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:28 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha I figured you'd change your mind on this someday

HI DERE, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

i've only heard the singles from this but i'm sure i'd think "say it right" was top 2-3 anyway so thats what i'm going with

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

extraordinarily hard choice but my heart says SHOWTIME

gff, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:29 (eighteen years ago)

promiscuous or no hay igual. say it right biggest grower.

blueski, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:30 (eighteen years ago)

this is on ile btw

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

Right now my answer is "everything except 'Glow' and 'In God's Hands'". I'll trim that down to something sensible later.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

not counting the "Maneater" remix w/ Wayne I never really warmed up to the big pop hits. the Coldplay joint was by far my favorite, the one in Spanish was kinda catchy too.

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:34 (eighteen years ago)

"the Coldplay joint"...?

HI DERE, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

The song "All Good Things (Come to an End)" that was co-written by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and featured a vocal cameo by him in a leaked demo version.

Alex in Baltimore, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

Ah, I didn't know that! That's one of the best songs of his I've heard.

"Somebody To Love" is supposed to actually be "Wait For You", right? That might be the one I vote for.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

"Say It Right" , but "Promiscuous" and "Maneater" right behind it.

daavid, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:57 (eighteen years ago)

say it right sounds like it was made by another human & is great & easily my favorite

deeznuts, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

leaning toward "say it right," but i need to weigh the options a little.

tipsy mothra, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:00 (eighteen years ago)

(to me "say it right" sounds like mid-80s madonna produced by phil collins. i.e. great.)

tipsy mothra, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:00 (eighteen years ago)

Maneater by light years.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

"Say it Right" in the end, but I also love "Afraid" (which I think should have been a single, too. The chorus is great!)

Savannah Smiles, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 10:14 (eighteen years ago)

I want to vote for the hi-hat on Maneater.

G00blar, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 10:49 (eighteen years ago)

Say It Right is right.

SeekAltRoute, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 11:21 (eighteen years ago)

Say it Right

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 11:56 (eighteen years ago)

"Say It Right" is a tremendous song

Euler, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 13:15 (eighteen years ago)

It is, but so are "Afraid", "Showtime", "No Hay Igual" and "Wait For You".

HI DERE, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 13:21 (eighteen years ago)

See "Say It Right" is the one where the appeal is totally lost on me. Maybe it's just that the Timbo vocal ad-libs really get on my nerves there, but nothing else about it seems really special either.

Alex in Baltimore, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

"Say It Right" is on the verge of turning into a Stacey Q song, but the percussion remains stubbornly in place. This makes it awesome.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 13:30 (eighteen years ago)

"Say It Right" works because of the way the foreground and background call-and-response vocals build off of each other (I'm ignoring the male ad-libs here).

'say it right'

this was like my ex's fav album (she liked 'no hay igual') so ive heard it more than enough for now but lol @ ethan coming around on it anyway

deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

Nothing as good as Timbo's remix of "Turn Out The Light" or "Hey, Man!".

Eazy, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

"Promiscuous" and "Say It Right" are the best, but in the interest of avoiding the obvious, I'll go for "Showtime", which is totally the sleeper of the album.

rev, Thursday, 29 May 2008 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

also, the contrast between the terse verse lines, and the extended tones of the chorus gives the latter a very euphoric feel

First single from Mi Plan forthcoming Spanish album, to apparently be followed by one in Portuguese in 2010. I dig it, but then again, it draws a lot musically on Nelly 2.0, circa Folklore which I thought was really underrated, esp. the first half, which really soared at times. Spanish-language tracks rarely do well on the main charts, so I'm not sure what she's going for, but it's been too long since we've had something from eclectic, musically schizoid Nelly. My one hope - that in addition to mid-tempo rock and hippie banjo jams, she keeps following the reggaeton bent she dipped her foot in by collaborating w/ Calle 13 on the No Hay Igual remix.

Sidenote: why is this thread on ILE? Confusing.
