Query for genii, trivia buffs, policy wonks, etc.: After the U.S., what is the next-most-prosperous nation without universal health care?

India has universal health care, at least in principle.

dubai isn't a nation, and i'd imagine it's far more prosperous than the US, per-capita

lol, not even close. PPP for US: 13,843,825 ($MM), PPP for UAE: 167,296 ($MM)

Mr. Goodman, Saturday, 31 May 2008 00:23 (eighteen years ago)

If you use the IMF's numbers (from 2007), the UAE ranks 17 in per capita income, with the US at 8. If you use the CIA's World Factbook numbers (also 2007), UAE is 5 and US is 7.

Jaq, Saturday, 31 May 2008 00:29 (eighteen years ago)

Although per capita of course the UAE is marginally ahead of the US with about $55k per person versus $43k per person (2007 figures)

Was UAE the answer then? Surely Norway must have universal health care??
