No Homicide?!

And too much choices are all too recent, if you ask me.

But you've got to admit - television across the board, network and cable, has improved markedly in the past decade. The current level of quality and scope of material was almost unimaginable in 1988, even if you include crappy game shows and reality television.

These pajiba people all came of age in the late 80s-early 90s so of course there isn't gonna be anything from before then. Television's weird like that.

I really need to get some Larry Sanders Show and Arrested Development DVDs.

Mr. Snrub, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 03:20 (fifteen years ago) link

The choices are all recent because the reviewers were unable to accurately recall the seasons that haven't yet made it to DVD. Are there any from '88 or '89?

billstevejim, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 04:30 (fifteen years ago) link

And there arent enough animated series represented.

billstevejim, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 04:31 (fifteen years ago) link

Haha The Wire season 2 not even I would claim that lemme see 4 > 3 > 2 > 1 >>> 5.

Leee, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 05:06 (fifteen years ago) link

Wire S2 is brilliant. That's a story even more unlikely to be told on TV than Bal'mer drug dealers.

Their reason for picking season two seems pretty solid (changed the whole game of the show, unlike the first season in many ways), but I agree that four is the better season.

Also, I sorta wrote off Murder One as something I wouldn't like. Should I give it a shot?

Jouster, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 09:02 (fifteen years ago) link

I really liked Murder One the first time round, but I got a loan of the DVDs recently and couldn't get back into it at all. I think it was very much of its time.

At least they picked the right West Wing season.

Gawd, the text for this list is really unbearable and generic.

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 10:53 (fifteen years ago) link

lol sci-fi

I admit I was pleased to see the X-Files on the list - almost all retrospectives on that show seem to start with, "It had us all hooked at the time, but..."

I've never actually seen, or heard of, this Veronica Mars thing.

Sci-fi nerds go mental when you call it sci-fi. I used to know a dude who foamed at the beard.

blueski, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 12:05 (fifteen years ago) link

As correct as Number One is, you just can't trust fucking Firefly nerds.
