my favourite sandwich is one of the swiss cheese ciabattas from the Runner Bean in Dublin.

Failing that, the brie baguettes from the French place in the Epicurean Emporium are v. nice.

i am partial to pret salad (multi grain bread with hommous (sp?!) and salad and peppers) and veggie baguettes like my boyfriend makes with lots of salad, onions and mayonnaise. yum.

a chip buttie is a sandwhich with chips (fries) in it. i've never had one, but apparently they are AMAZING.

After doing some research, i discovered that the burrito was a chicano invention coming out of the deserts of the american southwest, the flour tortilla being a response to the lack of corn. The burrito become popular with central california miners and chicano farmworkers in the Salinas area, due to its portability and convenience (it is its own wrapper). The Mission district of San Francisco is now considered the Mecca of burritos.

Most wondorous sandwiches I have ever eaten are without doubt Cheese & Apple sandwiches from Marks & Spencer. A mixture of cream cheese, grated cheddar cheese, mayo and chunks of green and red apple in wholegrain nutty bread (I don't know the term for this particular bread, as I am not in the knowing of foodstuffs like you lot seem to be.) But they stopped making them, the bastards! Even though they were the most popular sandwich in the store! Blasted money men. If St. Michael ever decided to bring them back, I'm pretty sure you'd get people dancing for joy in the high street.

geeta, you live in Boston? I spent the past 5 years of my life there. I found the deli haus after a few landsdowne shows to be appealing. Otherwise I would never eaten anything from there without 15 adult beverages in me. I also found that the Ankara Cafe put bean sprouts on every damn sandwich, I hated them. I was partial to Anna's Taqueria and Spankys in Brighton.

ok, you know what? It's delish - PBL and M.

I think there is a difference between a sandwich -a convenient food choice that is good for a lunch box - and, y'know, crusty bread drizzled with olive oil with amazing ingredients.
I am sure this has been debated before, BUT...I love both. I just hate chewing when I'm hungry/rushed/hungover/hungry. I also tend to skip breakfast, so lunch becomes a very important meal that I start craving at 10:00 a.m.

I am also feeling upset about all of those vietnamese sandwiches that I can't have.
But they are not so different from a cold cut grinder, or even a cubano?

I can't chew in the morning. Is this weird?
