In this case, I recently saw that building in person and remembered it. Sometimes it seems people use different techniques than this.

In this case, I recently saw that building in person and remembered it.

I misread this as you recognized a person outside the building

cherry blossom, Tuesday, 23 March 2021 21:25 (three years ago) link

I had good buffalo wings, thanks map. There are great breweries in buffalo too—my favorite was called the big ditch brewing company.

I wanted to go to the albright knox museum but alas covid

Buffalo is one of those cities where many people I know have spent a significant amount of time because of the Poetics program at the SUNY campus there, but I have never been. All I know about it is snow, snow, and more snow.

Hah yeah my memory of Buffalo was 25+ feet of snow, it amazes me there is any bicycle infrastructure at all.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 23 March 2021 21:41 (three years ago) link

Apparently it is absolutely perfect in the summer, which I don't doubt.

I’ve never been but Buffalo to me means Julius Eastman and Morton Feldman...

Weymouth

That Buffalo pic might be the first photo itt of a street I've walked down (not that I would've ever recognised it).

Here is the view in Weymouth - https://goo.gl/maps/CUUwKy49WxS3uHoE7

I was going to guess Swanage, heh.

Tim, Wednesday, 24 March 2021 17:47 (three years ago) link

Weymouth isn't a city?

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Wednesday, 24 March 2021 17:50 (three years ago) link

four minutes, is that a record?

joni mitchell jarre (anagram), Wednesday, 24 March 2021 17:51 (three years ago) link

I think this game is allowed to play a little fast & loose with the definition of a city

xp

joni mitchell jarre (anagram), Wednesday, 24 March 2021 17:52 (three years ago) link

It's difficult enough!

Duncan Disorderly (Tom D.), Wednesday, 24 March 2021 17:54 (three years ago) link

Oof that was quick, just recognize it out the box?

cherry blossom, Wednesday, 24 March 2021 18:50 (three years ago) link

1. saw the sign with an ice cream and '99' so had to be UK seaside
2. google image search for: uk seaside blue yellow hut "hot food"
3. second result was Aunty Vi's Tea & Cakes in Weymouth

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 10:50 (three years ago) link

Getting a Black Sea vibe but nothing more than that yet

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 10:59 (three years ago) link

Yes, southern Europe, former Eastern bloc, now in the EU, makes sense to me.

Sofia?

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Friday, 26 March 2021 11:06 (three years ago) link

Not Sofia

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 26 March 2021 11:14 (three years ago) link

Looks LHD tho, despite the cars pointing in both directions either side. Rules out most of Europe

or something, Friday, 26 March 2021 11:44 (three years ago) link

LHD and EU plates would leave Cyprus, Malta and Ireland, i think. idk, maybe Valetta at a push but i'm not sure it looks like Cyprus to me.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Friday, 26 March 2021 11:53 (three years ago) link

tbf, i've never been to either Cyprus or Malta so am not in the best position to judge.

Scampo di tutti i Scampi (ShariVari), Friday, 26 March 2021 11:54 (three years ago) link

Looking at Valetta and Limassol and neither seem to fit, the grey colouring of the high rise doesn't scream Mediterranean to me

or something, Friday, 26 March 2021 11:58 (three years ago) link

Ah, I've just realized something

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length)

Hangzhou

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 12:01 (three years ago) link

No, this one isn't China, there has been enough China already.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 26 March 2021 12:08 (three years ago) link

Looks LHD tho, despite the cars pointing in both directions either side. Rules out most of Europe

The garbage truck being on the left hand side doesn't necessarily mean LHD though? It would have reason to be over there regardless

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 12:15 (three years ago) link

A quick search suggests Valetta, Limassol and Nicosia all use white bin lorries, not orange

or something, Friday, 26 March 2021 12:16 (three years ago) link

Agreed but the google van also appears to be driving in the left xp

or something, Friday, 26 March 2021 12:17 (three years ago) link

not buying it

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 12:51 (three years ago) link

It has to get past the truck!

Tbilisi

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 13:10 (three years ago) link

I thought it was Thessaloniki at first but it wasn't going to fit, then I thought...what about the other side of the Black Sea?

cherry blossom, Friday, 26 March 2021 13:14 (three years ago) link

Wow

or something, Friday, 26 March 2021 13:28 (three years ago) link

but even so... the street, how!? I'll never understand how you guys do this

StanM, Friday, 26 March 2021 13:48 (three years ago) link

if you have a look at which parts of Tbilisi are available on street view, it's basically the old town and these two apparently random urban roads.

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 26 March 2021 13:56 (three years ago) link

I have no idea how you got "Black Sea" straight away though!

Bastard Lakes (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Friday, 26 March 2021 13:58 (three years ago) link

ha, if you keep pressing forward the Google car continues right down the middle of the road for ages
