The enzyme with the freakin' biggest biomass on EARTH!

<3ing u Rubisco

AN ENIGMA

Does Rubisco's slow turnover rate reflect the inherent difficulty of the task which it accomplishes? Or is it a very inefficient enzyme? Has it travelled only a short way along its evolutionary path? As well as being slow, Rubisco has another problem. In a reaction which seems totally wasteful, O2 competes with CO2 for the active site. Is this an accident of evolutionary history? Did Rubisco first evolve when the earth was anaerobic?

Thank you for all the oxygen Rubisco!

It says on the New Answers page this was started in November 2008! YOU POST FROM THE FUTURE.

Rubisco you would make a great quilt pattern:

Le faisceau de synchronisation

En effet,
les expériences à court
terme sont difficilement envisageables
et les recherches longues
et pas toujours évidentes.

Par exemple,
avant d'obtenir un chryzode ressemblant
au Rubisco,
il nous a fallu analyser le processus
mis en place
dans une radio-cristallographie pour
y constater
que l'appareillage produisait
une inversion homologique.

abbott is there anything about ecology you would like explained, preferably in the form of an entry from a dictionary of ecology

That was the best thread in the entire world.

All I know is there is the most biodiversity where biomes overlap.

Saturday morning enzyme

rubisco (Abbott), Saturday, 1 November 2008 15:11 (fifteen years ago) link

i am in need of saturday morning enzymes

my other son is a zamboni (gbx), Saturday, 1 November 2008 15:20 (fifteen years ago) link

i also need some of those
this is a good thread
and also the other one
biomass is one of my favourite words for real

Nabisco activase's main assignment is to serve as an activator and regulator of nabisco. Specifically, nabisco activase helps convert nabisco from his inactive form to his active state. That's essential. Only the active form of nabisco can help with photosynthesis. If plant cells have more inactive than active nabisco, for example, photosynthesis slows. The result: Plants don't grow as fast and our harvests aren't as bountiful.

The enzymes are upon us

yesterday i went on a bike ride through a park here that felt like the country and i swear i could smell the biomass

There is unrest in the forest biomass
